This I2C Logic Level Converter - 5V to 3.3V Bi-Directional Module is essentially a tiny buck-boost module that steps incoming signals up and down to match the other components within a project. It is capable of boosting or stepping up 3.3V signals to 5V, but can also buck or step down 5V signals to 3.3V. This allows you to use Electronics Components that work on differing logic voltage levels, like if you are using a 3.3V microcontroller with a 5V DC relay, and simply converts the signal voltage in whichever way you need it to.

The module, despite being quite a specialised Level Converter, is surprisingly easy to use even for beginners and has a total of 4 input pins and 4 output pins – with two of each being located on both the high and low side. The module is also designed to be used with Arduino, meaning that it’s more than just compatible with these as well as similar types of Microcontroller Boards. And to add the final cherry on top and make it a great investment for almost any electronics enthusiast, it is also capable of converting between 2.8V and 1.8V signals as well.

Finally, what sets this module apart from standard level converter Electronics Modules is how you can set the high and low voltages, and then step between them safely on the same channel. This makes it one of the easiest to use, as well as most useful, modules to have in your Maker’s Toolbox.

Note: This module requires a power source of both voltages, and essentially just converts the logic level signal between the two differing voltages.
