When your creative juices are running and you’re in the mood to create something new and fresh with your 3D Printer, one of the most frustrating problems to have to deal with is first-layer adhesion, as this is a fundamental stage of any print, and is unfortunately far too easy to get wrong. And while some of the prints with bad early layers are definitely still salvageable, if you’re really eager to get some great quality to translate your awesome idea into a reality, you need Bed Adhesion that you can genuinely rely on every time – and this is why we get so excited with Wham Bam Flexible Build Systems.
This Flexible Build System, or FBS for short, is an extremely clever bed adhesion aid designed in three parts, with a strong magnetic base, a highly flexible spring steel sheet, and finally a good build surface to give 3D Printers great first-layer adhesion. This three part system is fantastic, as it allows for Makers to get the best of both convenience and adhesion quality, with the spring steel plate being completely removable and magnetically mountable to the base. This means that, after each print, you can simply pull of the spring steel sheet, flex it to “pop” the prints right off, and then Slam it straight back onto the bed for the next print. This convenience, when coupled with Wham Bam’s specialised “PEX” build surface – a variant of PEI focussed toward easier usability – makes the entire 3D Printing process far easier and more enjoyable than ever before, ensuring great (and easy) first-layer adhesion, as well as one of the most convenient print removal processes that the industry has ever seen.
These awesome adhesion-quality and convenience features all add up to one truly amazing package, and there aren’t many other Build Systems like this that can compete with such awesome features at such a great price. So if you’ve always loved the idea of having a removable build plate, but have always been troubled by the common problems associated with a removable magnetic build surface, the Wham Bam Flexible Build System is the solution that won’t demagnetise, won’t layer shift unexpectedly, and won’t deform even after hundreds of bends, twists and flexes.
Please Note: While most Magnetic Build Surfaces typically suffer from loss of magnetism at high temperatures, these Wham Bam Build Systems have been specially designed to handle temperatures of up to 150°C without problem. So feel free to print ABS and other high temperature filaments to your heart’s content, without having to worry about your bed slipping loose or having similar issues from the extended periods of high temperatures.
Extra Note: If you like the idea of these build plates, but are looking for a different Build Surface Materials, we also have the Wham Bam PEI Build Surface and Wham Bam PC Build Surfaces available, to allow Makers to swap build surfaces as needed.

Finally, the following video is a great review and build guide for the Wham Bam Flexible Build System from Teaching Tech, in which he compares it to the classic Creality CMagnet Bed, and shows off some of the key features that set it apart from competitors:
Wham Bam Systems is a funky, lively brand created by Peter Solomon, who has actually been a relatively well known inventor for 45 years now. From developing laboratory methods and protocols, to work on complex interferometer mechanisms, Peter has been applying for patents since as far back as 1984 – and now his most recent work is the reinvention of the 3D Printer Build Platform. This is how Wham Bam Systems started, and since 2019 they have been gaining popularity as some of the most effective and most convenient build plate systems on the market.
Catering to a large range of popular 3D Printers from leading hobbyist 3D Printer brands, Wham Bam Systems offers some of the best build plates on the market, and with the recent addition of the Wham Bam HotBox to their catalogue, we can’t wait to see what else Wham Bam Systems has in the pipeline for future upgrades.
