If you’ve been living in the modern world with technology prevalent in almost every single aspect of our lives, then you will have surely seen at least a few Buttons & Switches in your life. However, while most of us are quite accustomed to gratifyingly “clicky” buttons, soft membrane press buttons and capacitive or inductive touch “buttons”, when working with PCB’s, microcontrollers and other Hobbyist Electronics, sometimes you want discrete buttons, which don’t necessarily have the gratifying “click”, but instead focus on pure functionality and minimal footprint for Prototyping. This is what makes these discrete Low Profile Tactile Push Buttons such a great addition to the catalogue, as these aren’t designed for aesthetics or feel, and instead are simply there to provide onboard functionality for projects, circuit boards and peculiar prototypes.

These Tactile Push Buttons are small in size, measuring just 5mm wide and long, with a Low Profile 0.4mm height that makes them ideal for SMD work. They feature a reasonably strong 160gf operating force, which of course means that they won’t just press themselves down with the odd bump or knock on the board, and the entire unit is made from robust materials like brass and nylon, ensuring a good level of durability against both external forces and standard operation. While offering relatively simple features, these low profile SMD tactile buttons are very effective in what they are designed for, and we’re big fans of using these on all Electronics projects that need simple functionality – but where space is limited and small size is invaluable.
