With each new 3D Printer Creality release we not only get an exciting new 3D Printer, such as the CR-6 SE, but also a host of new components. Parts such as motherboards go through multiple iterations both during testing and post-launch. These refinements can introduce new features, fix common issues, and improve existing features, all with the aim of giving you the best product possible. The CR-ERA V1.1.0.3 is the latest iteration of the motherboard for the impressive CR-6 SE featuring the latest refinements and updated firmware.

The CR-6 SE motherboard has gone through multiple iterations, such as V4.5.2, and V4.5.3, since its release and each time it has addressed issues raised by the community. The CR-ERA V1.1.0.3 has a slightly different version number but features a powerful 32Bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller, and to remedy the ever-popular “My 3D Printer is loud!” problem, it includes TMC2209 Ultra Silent Stepper Drivers for extremely low noise during operation. It also features integrated functions such as print resume function, filament runout sensor, and automatic bed levelling. All this is combined in a motherboard designed to be an easy-to-install replacement or upgrade for your existing CR-6 SE motherboard. While some of these features are considered common on recent motherboards, we appreciate Creality’s effort to include more features as standard on their boards.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at some of the features which we feel play the biggest part in adding to the overall user experience of this motherboard.

Features of the Creality V1.1.0.3 Motherboard for CR-6 SE

  • Powerful 32Bit CPU – As 3D Printers get more advanced the resource requirements increase. This occurs with the implementation of new features, upgrades, and accessories. For many Makers, it is becoming clear that 8Bit boards are starting to struggle in terms of the performance they provide. While the initial batch of CR-6 SE 3D Printers shipped with 8Bit motherboards the subsequent batches have featured 32Bit microcontrollers. The V1.1.0.3 features a 32Bit ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller providing a clock speed of 72MHz, 512kB Flash memory, and 64kB SRAM. This means the V1.1.0.3 is ready to handle better firmware, more advanced upgrades, as well as high speeds with the right parts.

  • Integrated TMC2209 Drivers – Silent motherboards have become a standard addition to recent Creality 3D Printers, with TMC Stepper Drivers taking front and centre stage for delivering high performance with near-silent operations. So, it’s certainly no surprise that the V1.1.0.3 motherboard comes fully equipped with TMC2209 drivers, which are not only near-silent, but for the more advanced Makers, they also offer a good range of extra features so you can get the most out of your CR-6 SE. These drivers have been integrated directly into the motherboard to ensure seamless compatibility and even further improved performance and heat management thanks to the attached heatsinks.

Creality V1.1.0.3 Motherboard for CR-6 SE

Creality V1.1.0.3 Motherboard for CR-6 SE

Although Creality 3D have been working within the industry since 2014, their addition of the Creality CR-10 series is what really catapulted them to the front line of competition, as it offered substantially better quality compared to other 3D printers – while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexities of the machines.

The quality of Creality’s 3D Printers and accessories shows through in their market history, with the brand selling around 3000 printers in their first year on the market, followed by about 10,000 sales over the next year. Now, Creality easily sells around 30,000 or more 3D printers each year, with sales continuously rising as they bring out more models. These are impressive numbers when considering the fact that they entered the industry as unknown competitors, quickly rising through the ranks and now even competing with Wanhao and similar top brands.

If you are looking for excellent 3D Printers that offer affordability without compromising on quality, Creality 3D is certainly a brand that you should take note of. From the basic Creality Ender 2 all the way up to the large build volume Creality CR-10 S5, there are few other brands who are capable of offering such a refined package while still maintaining some of the most enticing prices in the industry.
