If you love robotics like we do here at DIYElectronics, you will also love this fantastic little Arduino Robot Control Board with Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility, known as the Romeo BLE. This DFRobot Original controller board is the ultimate board for robotics, and has been designed specifically to be used for small robots like the “Turtle” Robot Kit and “Pirate” Robot Kit, with an onboard motor driver, built-in Bluetooth 4.0 BLE capabilities, and even an iOS APP called “GoBLE” as well as the Visual Programming APP “WhenDo” to complement it.

The onboard motor driver on the Romeo BLE is a 2-way H-bridged driver with 2A max current, which is capable of driving DC Motors as well as power-hungry Servo Motors if necessary. With this at hand, all you will need to get your robot project underway is this board, a power supply or battery pack, and a Bluetooth capable device for controlling your little buddy once it’s built.

So, in essence, the Romeo BLE is a very upgraded Arduino Board, but with a good range of extra features that add functionality and convenience in a variety of different ways. From integrated wireless communications and motor drivers, to complementary applications and onboard buttons and switches, there are few other boards that can offer the full package like the Romeo BLE can.

Please Note: Although this board is based on Arduino and features a MicroUSB Port, it can't actually be programmed directly via USB, but instead utilises Wireless BLE Programming, which of course means that you will need the trusty Bluno Link USB Bluetooth Dongle to effectively modify and upload code for your robots or other applications. Furthermore, if you ever need to update the Bluetooth Chip, then you will need to use the MicroUSB port to do so.
