As you may have noticed, the Raspberry Pi Pico is a truly tiny board that could easily fit into a pocket, and could probably even be hidden away under a collar or sleeve, and despite the tiny size, it’s packed with a surprising level of power and functionality. However, while the Raspberry Pi 4 and other full sized Pi boards have loads of expansion modules and Pi HATs to utilise along with them, the set of Pico expansions aren’t quite as large – or at least not yet. Introducing the Pico-LCD-0.96, a tiny, bit-sized 0.96 inch LCD Display Module that has been built specifically for the Raspberry Pi Pico, featuring a vividly colourful 160x80 resolution display with easy SPI interfacing and an almost Plug ‘n’ Play style. It is a great new addition to the growing Pi PicoHAT Range of expansion board for the Pi Pico series, and is designed to work exactly like a full sized HAT or pHAT, bringing great functionality with a simplified plug-in expansion style.

This 0.96-inch LCD PicoHAT is a fantastic little module that brings visual display capabilities along with onboard controls, featuring both a 65K colour display as well as an onboard joystick as well as two user buttons. This allows for simple projects like handheld gaming devices, but can also allow for more advanced projects like wrist-bound smart devices, wireless computer or slideshow controllers, or even modernised bedside media players. Of course, as with any expansion board, it does require a bit of code to get working right, and that can be found within the Wiki linked at the bottom of this description, but once that code is set up, you can just plug this PicoHAT directly into the top of your Pi Pico, and enjoy expanded functionality while making the entire unit only slightly larger than it was originally. So if you’ve been keen to test out the possibilities that the Raspberry Pi Pico has to offer, this awesome little 0.96-inch LCD PicoHAT is ready to take on a wide range of different projects, bringing a versatile and colourful style while allowing for crisp and clear visuals for whatever projects you have planned.

Please Note: When looking at the side of this board opposite to the screw-in terminals, you will notice a small “USB” label on one end. Make sure to plug your Pi Pico in so that the USB Port on the Pico is on the same end as the USB label on the expansion board. This will ensure safe operations and eliminate any potential for damaging either board.
