With so many different 3D Filaments and unique polymers available to 3D Makers, it’s awesome to know that there is a filament out there for almost any application, from the easy-printing decorative nature of PLA to the extreme capabilities of PEEK. However, while we do have a lot of different materials at our disposal, not all 3D Printers are capable of printing in every material, and most 3D Printers are somewhat confined to the more basic PLA and PETG polymers, and typically require some extra modifications or 3D Printer Accessories to print in higher strength polymers. This is why we love cool upgrades like the Wham Bam HotBox 3D Printer Enclosure, as this simple but valuable upgrade provides just the right stuff to let standard PLA-capable 3D Printers branch out into the world of ABS Filaments and other higher temperature polymers.
The Wham Bam HotBox features a really clever design that utilises lightweight insulation and metal zips to form a relatively sturdy and surprisingly strong insulating box. The insulation is covered with fire-resistant nylon, as well as heat-reflecting metallic lining, and the box is ultra-simple to setup and install, as it just needs to be zipped up and placed directly over a 3D Printer. Once installed, it offers a handy large front viewing window, which can be opened and held by Velcro at the top for easy access, as well as a wide selection of filament feeding holes, and Velcro openings for both the filament holder, as well as optional ventilation or filtration. This is all complemented by the fact that, once you’re done with it, you can simply unzip it, fold it up and put it neatly away when you don’t need it, allowing you to switch between “PLA Mode” and “ABS Mode” in a matter of one or two minutes.

Wham Bam Systems is a funky, lively brand created by Peter Solomon, who has actually been a relatively well known inventor for 45 years now. From developing laboratory methods and protocols, to work on complex interferometer mechanisms, Peter has been applying for patents since as far back as 1984 – and now his most recent work is the reinvention of the 3D Printer Build Platform. This is how Wham Bam Systems started, and since 2019 they have been gaining popularity as some of the most effective and most convenient build plate systems on the market.
Catering to a large range of popular 3D Printers from leading hobbyist 3D Printer brands, Wham Bam Systems offers some of the best build plates on the market, and with the recent addition of the Wham Bam HotBox to their catalogue, we can’t wait to see what else Wham Bam Systems has in the pipeline for future upgrades.
