When it comes to Stepper Drivers in 3D Printing, the classic StepStick design has definitely cemented its place in the hearts and homes of Makers throughout the world. However, until recently, the simple but very effective A4988 Drivers dominated the market, being the most affordable good quality drivers that money could buy for 3D Printing. Fortunately, over time, newer, more powerful and far more functional drivers have been created, with these awesome BTT s109 V1.0 Stepper Drivers being a great example.

The BTT s109 is designed with the Toshiba TB67S109A driver on top of a classic StepStick breakout board, and offers a surprisingly high power output, along with some cool features that are relatively fresh to the 3D Printing scene. These drivers, compared to the StealthChop style of TMC Drivers, instead utilise what Toshiba call Advanced Dynamic Mixed Decay, which offers the benefit of quieter operation sounds, but also faster speeds and less step-out through improved waveform control. This is complemented by a high speed PWM Chopper, which further reduces overall nose, allows for high precision current control, and ultimately assists towards smoother print quality. And this, coupled with the high power output of 50V @ 4A, makes them a good contender that definitely shouldn’t be ignored.

As one of the rising stars in the world of 3D Printer Component Research and Development, BigTreeTech have certainly hit the ground running, entering the market in 2015 and spending their early stages primarily learning, researching, testing and developing, before producing some truly impressive results. From simple but effective upgrades to standard parts, all the way through to completely custom parts that no other brand offered at the time, BigTreeTech now have an incredibly diverse range, with almost no area of 3D Printing being left out.


Some of BigTreeTech’s most notable additions to the world of 3D Printing include the SKR Motherboard Range for numerous different 3D Printer models, the awesome TFT Touch Display Range with fancy features like dual-mode operation, as well as their very impressive Stepper Driver Range that cater to all tastes and preferences under the sun.
