While we humans are all equipped with an incredible range of different sensors, from photosensitive cells to resistive pressure sensors and even voltage and current sensing to a small degree, we simply can’t compete with the sheer precision of Electronics Sensors, which are typically designed with a single purpose – and as such are very good at that one application.

These Gravity SHT1x Humidity and Temperature Sensors are such sensors that are exceptionally good at what they do, and while they can’t sense much else aside from Temperature and Humidity, they are capable of measuring these variables down to a very precise estimation, and furthermore can withstand much harsher environments than our bodily-equipped human sensors can. This makes them the ideal sensors for when you need to monitor or sense an environment’s temperature and humidity levels, with the ability to measure between 0% and 100% RH humidity, and an impressive range of between -40°C and +128.8°C for temperatures.

The readings produced by this sensor are quite easy to harness, as this module features a simple DFRobot Gravity 2-wire digital (unibus) interface, which can easily be connected to a digital control board like an Arduino Board or similar type of development platform. And because the SHT1x Module is equipped with a capacitive humidity sensor, an energy gap temperature sensor, as well as an integrated 14bit A/D converter, it can achieve a precision with minimal deviation of up to 4.5% for humidity, and only 0.5°C for temperature – meaning that you can truly rely on the sensing capabilities that this inexpensive but very effective module offers.
