This offers the same kinds of benefits of Nylon and Carbon Fiber Filament, but also adds the extra benefits of increased creep resistance, as well as fatigue and heat resistance at temperatures up to 120°C, resulting in a strong filament that will maintain proper shape during and after printing, with substantially less deformation and shrinkage compared to typical Nylon Filaments.

Extra Notes and Precautions for Printing eSUN 1.75mm ePA-GF Filament:

With eSUN’s glass fibre filament being such a unique polymer comprised of multiple different materials, there are a few extra notes that you should keep in mind before and while printing. They are relatively simple, but quite important in order to enjoy the best results and as little wasted time and money as possible. They are as follows:

  • The first factor is this filament is very abrasive, and will very quickly wear down brass and aluminium nozzles, making stainless steel or carbon steel nozzles a critical component to avoid clogs and bad extrusion quality.
  • The second factor is that this filament is best printed within an enclosure, but without a part cooling fan, so as to ensure optimal layer adhesion.
  • The third factor is that you need to ensure a nozzle distance from the bed of between 0.2mm and 0.3mm, as any lower than 0.2mm will result in the glass fibres not being laid properly, and instead just getting in the way and clogging the end of the nozzle.
  • Finally, the fourth factor to keep in mind is that, while this filament has been designed to offer a smooth finish after printing, it’s a good idea to polish up the finished print in order to shave down any small glass fibres that may be poking out – just to avoid any scratches or cuts when handling it.

Despite these important factors, eSUN’s ePA-GF Filament is an amazing material to print with, and produces surprisingly strong parts with little shrinkage and warping, as well as maximum strength and durability.
