With 3D Printing giving hobbyists all around the world the ability to create seemingly impossible structures from nothing but 3D designs and great ideas, it’s no surprise that more and more 3D Makers are looking to step up their game with more advanced materials, so that instead of just 3D Printing for aesthetics and light functionality, we can finally start creating things with real world use cases. Fortunately for us, awesome brands like eSUN understand this need for higher strength and more practical materials, and that’s why we’re always eager to hear about when they bring fresh new 3D Filaments to the market, and it’s certainly no different with their eSUN ePAHT-CF Filament.

This specialised High Strength Carbon Fiber Infused Nylon PA6 is a step up from their previous ePA6-CF, and incorporates an extra 15% of high-rigidity carbon into the blend, resulting in a material that brings the awesome benefits of classic Carbon Fiber filled Nylon, but also brings some extra benefits to the table too. In terms of mechanical strengths, ePAHT-CF offers higher levels of impact resistance, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and temperature resistance, being capable of withstanding up to 150°C over extended periods of time, and as high as 180°C over short periods. This, coupled with a self-lubricating nature, reasonably high levels of conductivity, as well as lower rates of shrinkage and absorption compared to other Nylon Based Filaments, makes eSUN ePAHT-CF really stand out from the rest, even when comparing it to other specialised and engineering grade filaments on the market.

Of course, these high levels of strength and durability do come at a cost, and that’s in the fact that they are highly abrasive when being printed, so be sure to equip your 3D Printers with reliable Abrasion Resistant Nozzles you want to ensure that all of your prints have the best chances of success, without being plagued by corroded and widened outputs on less durable nozzles. Additionally, although ePAHT-CF does absorb moisture at a lower rate than other Nylons, it’s important to realise that it still does absorb moisture, and it’s always a good idea to try and remove that moisture before printing by heating it up to around 70°C for about 12 Hours, as this will ensure strong interlayer bonding and high durability for real world applications.

Please Note: eSUN ePAHT-CF is considered an advanced material, so be sure to do thorough research and find out what kinds of potential hurdles you may have to face before diving in, although we’re quite certain that if you can dial in your 3D Printer and figure out the fine nuances of this material on your particular setup, it will be well worth the time spent.

Shenzhen eSUN Industrial Co., Ltd was established in 2002 in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and has rapidly become one of the leading international suppliers of 3D Printing Filament. They specialise in research, development and production of degradable polymer materials, and have grown their catalogue of filaments to include PLA, ABS, PC, PVA, and a wide range of other polymers and copolymers.

Their list of exclusive filament formulas include unique materials like wood, aluminium, bronze and other materials to create highly specialised filaments that can stretch, bend, be moulded or otherwise behave in very unique ways. Their filaments are also commonly characterised by their absolutely round shape, extremely low diameter tolerance, uniform colours and impressively stable melting points. These characteristics, in combination with their long-term insistent policy of “Best Quality, Reasonable Price” has garnered them a large share of the market, with their reputation commonly preceding them within knowledgeable online and offline 3D Printing communities.

eSUN’s popularity in the industry has also helped to produce sustainable partnerships with many internationally famous 3D Printer manufacturers and distributors, with DIYElectronics having sole distributorship rights to provide their 3D Printing Filaments to South Africa and neighbouring African countries.
