There are quite a range of unique types of 3D Printing Filament on the market with unique properties or characteristics, although none are quite and fun as our 1kg spools of 1.75mm eFlex TPU Natural eSUN. This filament is designed with extremely high elongation characteristics for parts, models, toys or other prints that need to bend, stretch or flex.

This filament comes naturally uncoloured and has a base plastic material of PLA, meaning that it prints at similar specifications to Standard PLA Filament. Just remember that with flexible filaments you need to apply higher heat than usual, while running the print at a lower speed. This will prevent the filament from pulling off of the lower layers while printing, which would typically cause stringing.

Typical Applications for eSUN eFlex TPU Filament - 1.75mm Natural:

With the unique properties of eSUN eFlex, this filament is often used for very unique applications, such as making stretchable or bendable toys, flexible fashion accessories or even the soles of shoes.

Projects that utilise this filament include:

  • Printing wheels or drive belts for small robots and robotics projects.
  • Designing unique phone cases that offer protection while maintaining a soft and flexible feel.
  • Building an entire bikini like SexyCyborg – who then modelled it and successfully tested it in water.

Whether you want to print toys, fashion accessories or any other objects that can benefit from being flexible, there are few other filaments that can achieve such a high quality print with all of these fantastic characteristics. However, it is important to remember that this filament is 1.75mm in diameter, meaning that you may want to use a smaller nozzle if you typically print with 3mm filament.

Shenzhen eSUN Industrial Co., Ltd was established in 2002 in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and has rapidly become one of the leading international suppliers of 3D Printing Filament. They specialise in research, development and production of degradable polymer materials, and have grown their catalogue of filaments to include PLA, ABS, PC, PVA, and a wide range of other polymers and copolymers.

Their list of exclusive filament formulas include unique materials like wood, aluminium, bronze and other materials to create highly specialised filaments that can stretch, bend, be moulded or otherwise behave in very unique ways. Their filaments are also commonly characterised by their absolutely round shape, extremely low diameter tolerance, uniform colours and impressively stable melting points. These characteristics, in combination with their long-term insistent policy of “Best Quality, Reasonable Price” has garnered them a large share of the market, with their reputation commonly preceding them within knowledgeable online and offline 3D Printing communities.

eSUN’s popularity in the industry has also helped to produce sustainable partnerships with many internationally famous 3D Printer manufacturers and distributors, with DIYElectronics having sole distributorship rights to provide their 3D Printing Filaments to South Africa and neighbouring African countries.
