The Mosquito Magnum Heat Break

For all of us who love to keep up with awesome new 3D Printing tech’, we were very excited when we saw the first Mosquito Hotend being developed and seeing success in both print quality and speeds. However, we must admit that we weren’t expecting an upgrade to come out any time soon, but sure enough, quite quickly after the first Mosquito came The Mosquito Magnum Hotend, which stepped up the design with an extended Melt Zone, making it almost like a volcano hotend and allowing for blazingly fast print speeds. As with any component though, whether amazing or questionable, sometimes things can break, and that’s why we always make sure to stock Mosquito Spares like these Mosquito Magnum Heat Breaks, so that if you ever run into faults or breaks from accidents or other mishaps, you can simply get the particular part you need to swap out, rather than having to replace the entire hotend assembly.

The Mosquito Magnum Heat Break is a specially made thermally resistant filament feed path, and features a unique bi-metallic composite construction for both high strength and high performance. It consists of thermally resistant materials where it needs to prevent heat from creeping, while simultaneously having high thermally efficient materials in areas where it radiates the excess heat into the surrounding air. This is truly a magnificent demonstration of craftsmanship, allowing it to be ultra-thin, extremely effective at throttling heat creep, and amazing at getting rid of any heat that happens to creep its way upwards. And while many people would perhaps consider this excessive, it’s actually quite a necessary design choice, since the extended Melt Zone on the Mosquito Magnum Hotend means these Heat Breaks need to be able to resist extreme temperatures and get rid of any excess heat as fast as possible.

Of course, this particular Mosquito Magnum Heat Break is designed for the Mosquito Magnum Hotend 2020 Edition, which features a wider top diameter, and as such will require the more recent Mosquito Heat Sink 2020 Edition to accommodate the top of this heat break. So you may need to take this into consideration if your current Mosquito Heat Break/Heat Sink requires the previous 2.15mm diameter, as these 2020 Editions feature a 3.4mm diameter.
