As Makers who love to 3D Print all kinds of exotic toys, tools and other designs, it makes sense that we are often looking for ways to take advantage of unique and Exotic Filaments such as TPU, so that we can extend our capabilities and really start taking on bigger, better and more exciting challenges. However, as many experienced 3D Makers will know, sometimes the trickier filaments actually require more advanced components and machinery, and while it may be possible to print almost any standard materials with a standard setup, if you really want to enjoy great quality and mechanically-sound prints, it’s always a good idea to get the right equipment to do so. This is why we love awesome 3D Printer Upgrades like the BIQU H2 Direct Drive Extruder & Hotend Kit, which is built for the BIQU B1 but fits a good range of other 3D Printers, and offers powerful and lightweight direct drive extruding for all of those extra-tricky filaments like TPU, TPE and other Flexible Filaments.
What Makes the BIQU H2 DDS Extruder & Hotend Kit so Amazing?
The BIQU H2 has been designed to quite a similar specification to the well-known E3D Hemera Extruder, but has actually been built to be even more lightweight than the Hemera, and this helps to reduce the overall weight of the hotend and provide better accuracy as well as less mechanical drag during prints. This translates to a beautiful extruder/hotend combo that not only matches leading brands on the market, but actually surpasses them a few different ways.
In addition to the ultra-low weight of only around 219 grams, the BIQU H2 also offers the very appreciated benefit of being made almost entirely of metal, with the PTFE liner being the only plastic part involved in the design at all. This makes it great for applications in which you might want to print with high-temperature filaments, but also means that it can easily be integrated into a 3D Printer Enclosure without you having to worry about potential failures from overheated plastics. This can also be upgraded further for temperatures up to 500°C with Slice Engineering hotend parts and other all-metal heat breaks, although at an impressive temperature of 240°C or so by default, there are only a few reasons why you would ever need to perform an upgrade for higher temperatures.
Of course, if the above features weren’t enough, this beautiful DDS Extruder has been cleverly designed with multiple mounting points on all sides, allowing users to install it onto a wide range of existing extruder/hotend mounting brackets, and ensuring that as many 3D Makers as possible can enjoy the amazing benefits that the BIQU H2 Hotend is capable of providing. And while it may not quite natively mount directly to the mounting brackets of all 3D Printers, with some machines being quite nuanced such as the Creality CR-6 SE, the somewhat universal mounting points provided make it quite easy to design and print your own mount to cater to whatever machine you want to install it onto.

Typical Applications for BIQU H2 Direct Drive Extruder & Hotend Kit:
As you can probably see from the links in the table above, the clever design of the BIQU H2 Direct Drive Extruder & Hotend Kit allows it to be quite versatile in what 3D Printers it can be integrated onto. However, it is important to note that most machines will require a 3D Printer (or otherwise manufactured) bracket to mount the DDS extruder onto the carriage effectively, although as 3D Makers, that’s a relatively easy thing to achieve, especially since we’ve included links to mounting bracket print files the table just above this. So, whether you want to upgrade your BIQU B1 with a beautifully designed and well engineered hotend upgrade, or if you want to convert your trusty Ender Series 3D Printer to a direct drive for taking on more advanced 3D Materials, the BIQU H2 is one of the best and most versatile extruder/hotend combos that we’ve had the pleasure of reviewing and stocking so far.

Check out the BIQU H2 Installation Guide by BIQU, in which they quickly demonstrate some of the features while taking users through the basics to get it up and running and installed on the humble but powerful BIQU B1 3D Printer. Furthermore, this is the BIQU H2 GitHub Page, where you can find firmware files, print design files and more provided directly from BIQU/BigTreeTech:
Although many people may not quite recognise the name, BIQU is a fantastic brand that originated as BigTreeTech, and began their journey in the 3D Printing world by creating motherboards and other electronics that were made to enhance the functionality, ease of use and overall capabilities of other 3D Printers. However, after gaining a firm popularity as some the leaders in 3D Upgrades, they have also now branched off and created BIQU, a brand dedicated to creating entire 3D Printers for hobbyists like us.
Compared to many of the brands on the market, what we particularly love about BIQU is the way that their models come fully equipped with all of the exciting BigTreeTech controller boards, stepper drivers and other awesome components that are typically installed into other 3D Printers as powerful upgrades. These include the popular SKR motherboards, the BTT TMC Drivers, BTT TFT displays and other minor (but still valuable) upgrades that are often installed on Creality 3D Printers, but since these “upgrades” come stock on BIQU 3D Printers, you can enjoy even more reliable operations and functionality due to the fact that their machines are built specifically with their own boards and components in mind. This has resulted in BIQU creating some of the leading 3D Printers on the market, which don’t need any upgrades or improvements to match the quality of leading brands, and with many of the BIQU models actually surpassing the quality and capabilities of most other Hobbyist 3D Printers on the market.
If you love the idea of upgrading 3D Printers with all kinds of fun and functional upgrades, but aren’t too interested in getting a basic model that you have to actually upgrade yourself, the BIQU range of 3D Printers is the answer, bringing excellent quality coupled with all of the current best features available to 3D Makers.
