For any electronics Makers who have moved beyond basic Arduino Boards, and have decided to take their skills and knowledge further with Espressif Microcontrollers, you will surely have realised just how powerful the ESP32 and ESP8266 based modules can be. However, while these boards offer more than almost any Arduino on the market, as advanced Makers, we simply can’t help ourselves in wanting even MORE power and functionality from these little boards. That’s why we love Integrated Circuits like the Winbond Elec W25Q32JV 4MB Serial Flash Memory IC, which can actually be used to upgrade ESP8266 Boards with even more flash memory, allowing us to take full advantage of the power of these boards by extending our applications beyond the typical.

This “Flash Upgrade” Memory Module is stocked primarily for advanced users who want to upgrade their Espressif Microcontrollers, but does require a good level of knowledge and expertise to get it installed. However, with that being said, there are a number of tutorials online for upgrading ESP Boards, with some focusing on the ESP8266 and others focusing on the ESP-01 and ESP-03 boards too. Just bear in mind though that not every ESP board will be capable of receiving this upgrade, so it is important to do some research if you’re unsure, and double check with friendly members of online forums (like the Espressif Forum) if you’re stuck with anything.
