The VS1838 IR Receiver Module is a basic little module that utilises the popular VS1838 IR receiver to sense and receive infrared communications wirelessly. It is designed as a Breakout Board that is compatible with Arduino Boards and similar types of Development Platforms, and allows Makers to build their own IR-based control systems. This module operates on 3V to 5V DC and offers a receiving angle of around 70° at up to 15m distance. It is also protected by a clever little EMF jacket to shield it from electromagnetic interference, with additional features including high resistance to ambient light interference and a variable voltage input as well. These features make these modules fantastically versatile tools for a wide range of use cases, and in the hands of a Maker with an active imagination, we imagine that you're already thinking of ideas on how you're going to be using them for your own projects.

Typical Applications for the VS1838 IR Receiver Module:
The VS1838 IR Receiver Module is an excellent tool for building IR-controlled devices, or for integrating IR-capabilities into existing machines and projects. Great examples of the types of projects and applications that suit this module include:
- Equipping a kettle or coffee machine with IR control, so that you can turn it on or off in the kitchen – while you’re enjoying the comfort of your couch in the lounge.
- Modifying your sprinkler system to be able to turn it on and off without having to manually operate the control system.
- Integrating IR capabilities into commonly used devices and machines in your home or office, including you TV, air conditioner, vehicle audio system, lights, heaters and fans, and even your kids’ toys.
Thanks to the open-ended nature of these IR Receivers, the application for them are almost endless, and are really only limited by your imagination.
