For any Electronics enthusiasts who love to extend their workbenches and get a hold of as many different tools, machines and toys to help you experiment and prototype with, you’ll know that every aspiring Maker who wants to get into more advanced projects needs a variable output Lab PSU, capable of providing precise voltage and current outputs for complex or highly sensitive modules and components. However, it’s no secret that high quality Lab PSUs are expensive, and they don’t always fit into a hobbyist’s budget, and that’s why we’ve always been so impressed with Riden’s range of PSU Interfacing Modules like this Riden DPS5005 Digital Power Supply Module, which allows Makers like you to build your own custom Variable Power Supply. And if that still isn't enough to satisfy Makers who like to tinker, this aweomse DIY PSU also includes a USB breakout, which also allows you to connect this unit up directly to a computer, where you can use the specialised software to control it directly from your PC.
The Riden DPS5005 is quite an amazing module that takes the input from a standard Switching PSU and wrangles it down to precision voltage and current settings for whatever parts, components, modules or projects you’re working on. It features a built-in 1.44-inch display with onboard controls for adjusting outputs, saving presets, defining various max and min settings, and ultimately helping you give each unique piece of electronics the exact power specifications they need. With this module, all you need is a handy enclosure, such as the specially designed Riden DP & DPS PSU Enclosure A or a custom 3D Printed enclosure, and a reliable power supply that can provide the non-adjustable input voltage for the DPS5005 to use. While this awesome DPS5005 is a fantastically fun module to build and customise in your own way, the cost-effective nature of this module is also amazing, as you actually end up getting more than what a cheap Lab PSU could offer, and you get to have fun building and customising it to suit your own needs. So if you’ve always been envious of content creators showing off their cool variable power supplies, but have always felt that traditional Lab PSUs are either too expensive or just not as functional as you would like, the Riden DPS5005 is the answer that will soon have your friends (and fans) envious of you!
Please Note: The Riden DPS5005 does NOT include a Power Supply, and will require a PSU that can provide around 1.1 times the output voltage and total power you will need, and must not exceed 55V DC. Ideally, if you can find a 55V PSU, that will be the best option, but alternatively we do stock the Mean Well 48V 350W PSU, which is quite cost-effective and should be enough to handle an exceptionally wide range of hobbyist applications.

Of course, if you enjoy learning in a more visual way, the following DPS5005 review & Build video by Andreas Spiess, “The Guy with the Swedish Accent”, is an excellent demonstration of what you can expect with your DPS5005, and shows the basic setup and installation of this module along with the enclosure and a PSU, while going quite deep into some of the details and inner workings of the module as well:
