When working with Linear Motion Components or CNC machines like engravers or 3D Printers, the ability to translate the rotational torque from a stepper motor into linear motion along a straight line is invaluable. This is why, in addition to our metal leadscrew nuts, we are also eager to offer customers an alternative choice in the form of POM or Delrin leadscrew nuts.
With that being said, this TR8x8 Metric Lead Screw Nut is made from POM material, and is designed to be used in conjunction with Leadscrews in 3D Printing, so as to translate the stepper motor torque into vertical motion for the gantry. This is why you always want to have a high-quality part with ultra-low friction for the task, so that the accuracy remains consistent over months or even years of usage, ensuring your print quality is never affected by reduced accuracy caused by wear and tear on the leadscrew nut.
The benefits of using POM (Delrin) instead of brass include the fact that Delrin offers reduced resistance due to friction, as well as a longer lifespan since POM is naturally self-lubricating. This results in less wear and tear over time, and a lot more rotations of use compared to harder materials like brass.

These TR8x8 Metric Lead Screw POM Nuts are typically used in CNC machine applications, and have been appearing more and more in 3D Printing due to the ever-increasing popularity of the industry. However, they are certainly not limited to this application, and many people argue that POM is actually far better than brass for actual CNC engravers and cutters, since the longer lifespan and low coefficient of friction ensures consistent accuracy even after months of solid usage.
