Having a powerful Electronics board is great, and opens up amazing opportunities for potential projects and exciting goodies and gadgets to build. However, the real fun comes in when you start equipping that powerful board with a range of expansion modules, as these are the real stars of the show that let your electronics understand, connect to and interact with the world that it lives in.
With that being said, the Sense HAT for Raspberry Pi is an amazing expansion module that can greatly expand on the capabilities and functionality of Raspberry Pi Boards, with an onboard RGB Matrix & Joystick for feedback and human interfacing, and a range of quality Sensors that can all work together to create vastly complex projects.
These Pi HATs feature an inertia and orientation sensor for measuring acceleration and magnetic pull, a gyroscope for identifying yaw, roll and pitch, as well as a barometer, a humidity sensor and a temperature sensor to measure the environment around it. This allows you to create a wide range of cool Raspberry Pi projects from basic pocket weather stations all the way through to automatic aquarium cleaners, with the only real limit being your imagination and ambition.
Please Note: This is the Official Sense HAT, which is famous for use within the Astro-Pi project, in which teams of learners can build a Pi project together and then get it sent to the International Space Station (ISS) to run programs and code in space! As such, if you’re at school or college and want to get involved in exciting space projects, be sure to visit https://astro-pi.org/ to find out more about this fantastic project.
