In a world in which pollution is rife, you can’t always simply trust the liquids that you’re utilising, whether it be for drinking, baking, chemical processing or other applications. However, there are ways in which you can test and evaluate liquids before utilising them, so you don’t have to rely on blind faith or luck, and instead can know precisely what the composition of the liquid is, and whether it meets your specific requirements for your use case.

The Analog Turbidity Sensor by DFRobot is a Gravity Series sensor module and probe, which is made to identify the quality level of liquids by detecting the number of particles within it. It does this by using a specially designed light along with a light sensor in the probe, with a gap in between these two points for the liquid. This light, being transmitted from one side of the probe and received by the other side, is then measured against the calibrated standard, so as to estimate how many particles are blocking the light, resulting in a relatively accurate reading of turbidity, which you can then use to determine the quality in accordance to your application.

Please Note: The top of the included probe is not waterproof, so be sure to keep this out of the liquid during measurements, and only submerge the bottom transparent section.

Typical Applications for the Analog Turbidity Sensor by DFRobot:

Although this Analog Turbidity Sensor is primarily designed to test transparent liquids like drinking water, it can also be used in “reverse” as well, and could, for example, help you identify precise composition ratios as well. As such, you could use this for all kinds of applications, from measuring the amount of pulp in a fruit juice, all the way through to measuring how cooked an egg is – with both of these together resulting in the perfect breakfast.

In regards to what you can expect to receive alongside this product, the Turbidity sensor package is comprised of the Sensor Probe, the Sensor Adapter Module, a Sensor Interfacing Cable, as well as a Gravity Analog Sensor Cable, allowing you to simply plug it all into an Arduino board and utilise it almost immediately.
