As many of you may know, we simply love to get in new toys (or otherwise known as tools) to play around and experiment with, but we also strive to bring only the kinds of Tools and Tech’ that we love using ourselves. However, our continuous efforts toward only providing high quality goodies leaves us with a bit of a conundrum, since that means we can’t just fill our shelves with all of the less-than-impressive items that don’t make the cut, but that’s why we so darn excited about getting in the DT71 Digital Tweezer Testing Tool from Miniware. These seemingly simple tweezers are quite incredible, and go beyond just a novel toy/tool to play with, actually offering genuinely valuable capabilities that almost any Electronics Maker on the planet can take advantage of.
The DT71 Digital Tweezers are All in One Testing Tools designed for Makers who like to know what’s actually going on under the hood in electronics, offering a full suite of advanced tools that range from voltage testing all the way through to signal generation – all in a very convenient and easy to use tweezer style form. This is actually ingenious, as it allows you to simply grab the two legs of an LED, for example, and test it out within seconds, with the tweezer style lending itself really well to connecting two points to diode-test, check voltage, or even just spot-test for continuity across various pads or terminals. Furthermore, in addition to the standard voltage, inductance, capacitance, resistance and continuity Test & Measurement capabilities that you would see on classic multimeters, these DT71 Tweezers can also measure as well as generate frequency too! So not only can you test what’s going on under the hood in your circuits, but you can even impose signals to see how your projects will react when subjected to various frequencies and noise as well.
Created with care and consideration by the same amazing Makers who brought the TS100 Soldering Iron and TS80 Smart Soldering Iron to the market, these DT71 Digital Tweezers are ready to be your next favourite tool to have in your workshop, on-hand, or even in your bag as you travel, Make and analyse on the fly. With built in testing, measurement and even generation powers, these tiny sets of electronic tweezers are like superheroes in the Maker world, and we’ve had an absolute blast testing, experimenting and pushing these little tools to their limits with all kinds of different projects already.

With so much functionality built into a tiny, simplified and easy to use form factor, the DT71 Tweezers are a dream for Makers who love to prototype, test, analyse, repair and modify electronics. Featuring a slew of handy features like automatic component identification and signal generation, you can now identify, classify and test components that are already installed and integrated into projects and onto boards and Modules with ease, and you can even test and analyse how various Components or parts of the circuit respond when subjected to standard as well as unique frequencies and signals too. And while you could certainly do the same kinds of things with just a multimeter and an oscilloscope, the small size, convenient form factor and ability to connect to other analysis tools via the electrodes on the tips makes it a vital tool for Electronics Makers who strive for efficiency and speed – both at their workbench as well as out in the field.
Finally, this is a great, honest review by one of our favourite content creators EEVBlog, which takes a realistic approach and checks out both the pros and cons of this fancy little device:
No customer reviews for the moment.
Guangzhou e-Design Intelligent Technology, or more affectionately known as Miniware to us electronics enthusiasts, is the brand that created the awesome TS100 Soldering Iron, and this single item is what helped them rapidly grow in popularity, due to the impressive quality coupled with fancy features – all in a beautifully portable design that can even be powered by LiPo Cell Packs!
Although Miniware remained somewhat unknown before the launch of the TS100, they have actually been involved in electronics design since as far back as 2000, and they hold the title of being the first in the world to design a portable handheld oscilloscope in 2009. Since then, however, Miniware has been rapidly gaining popularity due to the impressive level of quality and sophistication of each their awesome products, and how they manage to fit even more features and functionality into their handheld devices than many of the popular desktop devices within the same price range.
With almost every single one of their awesome products being a truly valuable addition to almost any workshop space, Miniware are one of our favourite brands. And while they certainly don’t release new products often, we simply love to get new goodies in from the moment they are prototyped, so that we can enjoy the awesome new features (both novel and functional) that they have chosen to integrate.
