These 0.4mm MK8 Nozzles for 1.75mm filament diameter are designed to be used in 3D Printing for high detail and precision, based on the Makerbot MK8 design and capable of fitting a wide range of 1.75mm hotend assemblies. Although they are not designed by Makerbot, they are made to the exact same specification with strict quality testing to ensure the same quality that you can expect from original MK8 nozzles.

These 3D Printer Nozzles are made from durable stainless steel, which is an excellent choice if you are eager to print Exotic Filaments like carbon fibre or glow in the dark, as the abrasive nature of such filaments can easily damage brass nozzles. Stainless Steel, in comparison, is far more resistant to wear and tear as well as damage like corrosion and pitting. These qualities make them ideal for harsh filaments, and will ensure less replacements over time as well as more time and money saved in the long run.

Changing Nozzles – The Hot Tightening Technique:

When swapping out 3D Printer Nozzles on a 3D printer, we recommend resorting to the hot tightening technique. Follow this procedure - being careful not to burn yourself.

  • Unscrew the heat-break from the heatsink half a turn to be sure you are not tightening against the heat-break in later stages.
  • Heat up your hot end to 285°C. Do not overshoot as you risk damaging your thermistor.
  • Remove the existing nozzle from the heater block.
  • Insert the new nozzle.
  • While gripping the heater block firmly, tighten the nozzle. Do not apply any torque through the heat-break, they are fragile.
  • Turn off the heat and allow the hot side to cool.
  • Re-tighten the heat-break into the heatsink.

The reason for this is that the aluminium heater blocks often have a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the brass and steel used in the nozzles and heat breaks. This results in a small gap being created between the nozzle and the break inside the block when the hot end is at temperature, but this only happens if the nozzle has been tightened while cold.
