When creating cool new prints from nothing but a great idea, some raw materials and a 3D Printer, it’s always so tempting to choose the brightest, most vibrant colours to really catch the attention of everyone who happens to glance in the general direction of your print. However, sometimes projects call for more subtle approaches, and vibrant colours aren’t always the best choice, and in such times, we’re glad that we also have great options like Transparent or Clear Filaments, to break the norm and let us create beautiful prints with see-through walls and all of the fine details visibly contained within.
Although many experienced 3D Makers will know that Transparent Filaments aren’t often actually transparent, and are really just less opaque than most solid colours, and in order to achieve true transparency you typically have to post-process the print afterwards to remove layer lines and prevent light diffraction within the walls, as well as the top and bottom layers. However, with Fillamentum Crystal Clear Iceland Blue, the polymer and pigment combination has been designed in such a way that, even without post-processing, the colour is extremely subtle, giving you as a 3D Maker and post-processor an excellent head-start to get the results that you really want from transparent 3D Filaments. This high level of transparency is of course improved as well with a very subtle blue pigment, and this is fantastic since it makes prints actually look more like ice, and we can’t help but use it for fun prints like Graphics Card Icicle Supports, models of ice castles and other fantasy locations, as well as for Cosplay Accessories for all kinds of ice related characters. However, just because it resembles ice so well, that doesn’t mean that you have to follow the pattern, and if you think you could create other types of beautiful prints with Iceland Blue Filament, then we certainly invite you to get some and start experimenting, creating all of the masterpieces that you’ve always dreamed of – with a much more genuine style of transparency.
Of course, with a core focus on ensuring precision consistency in ever spool produced, Fillamentum has rightfully garnered a position as one of the top suppliers of 3D Filaments throughout the world. From their vibrant range of Fillamentum ABS to the more exotic styles like the Fillamentum Timberfill Range, this amazing brand is not only passionate about quality, but is actually capable of delivering on this promise each and every time, without fail. This is why, regardless of what Fillamentum Polymers you’re choosing for your next project, you can expect excellent results with each and every one.
So if you’ve been eager to find yourself a fresh new brand to test out, or are looking for a premium quality filament for professional projects and precision prototyping, Fillamentum PLA Filaments are definitely some of the best materials for the task.

Although 3D Printing at first glance can seem extremely complicated, with a crazy amount of different polymers and plastics available, PLA is polymerised in such a way that even a beginner can enjoy awesome results without ever needing any training or formal education on the topic. This is why it is arguably the most popular filament in the world, and as long as you aren’t requiring the printed models or parts to be very strong, it can handle a wide range of applications from decorative art to functional door handles and similar types of objects.
However, even though it is very easy to print with compared to other polymers, there are still some handy tips to help you get to a good level of quality from your PLA Prints, and this is why we’ve taken the time to provide what we feel are the Top Three Tips for 3D Printing with PLA:
Although we like to believe that we are masters of 3D Printing, after spending a good many years enveloped in the industry, we have to admit that even we learn something new from time to time, and as such we always recommend getting out there and doing your own research to develop your own opinion and grow your knowledge from multiple sources!
As such, in addition to the above PLA Printing Tips, we’ve also gathered an awesome collection of what we feel are great resources to start with when getting into 3D Printing, so be sure to check these out if you’re looking for more insights and information on PLA Printing, or if you’re just curious and eager to see more opinions on one of the many facets of this still-fresh industry:

Starting in as early as 2013, but with roots that go even further than that, Fillamentum is a brand that actually began working in the automotive industry, before moving into the packaging industry, and then eventually arriving in (and specialising in) 3D printing, where they found their true passion. And as a company that has always placed a high priority on following innovation, they took to 3D printing like a fish to water, and since 2013, have been consistently introducing fresh new innovations to the industry in the form of new types of polymers, refinements to classic polymers, as well as hybrid polymers that blend in materials like wood for distinctively unique effects.
What we really love about Fillamentum and their awesome 3D filaments range, is that they offer true consistency even between hundreds or thousands of batches. In fact, they actually match many of their colours to specifically defined Pantones and RAL colours, which are universal colour standards that artists, designers and many other professionals commonly use for precision colour coordination. This of course is complemented by their consistent quality, with an impressive (and tested) 0.05mm tolerance throughout each spool, as well as consistent results from various colours across multiple batches during our own testing phases.
As a brand that clearly demonstrates its passion for 3D printing through it’s beautiful 3D filaments, we’ve been exceptionally impressed with Fillamentum, and we certainly won’t be too surprised if Fillamentum becomes your new favourite 3D filament for all occasions.
