As one of the leading suppliers of 3D Printers here in South Africa, it’s often difficult to select the ideal 3D Printers that we know people want, and that we can fully support in order to ensure continued enjoyment for customers throughout the lifespan of the machine. However, after seeing the launch of this new FlashForge Guider IIs 3D Printer, the decision to include FlashForge 3D Printers was made a lot easier.

The FlashForge Guider IIs is a recent improvement over the standard Guider II, and includes all of the best features of that model, with the addition of an Online-Capable HD Camera and an air filtration system that utilises activated carbon and cotton filters to clean any fumes during prints. This, of course, is in addition to the fantastic features that have been brought forward from the original Guider II (featured below) make the Guider IIs an amazing 3D Printer for a surprisingly low price.

Exciting Features of the FlashForge Guider IIs 3D Printer:

The FlashForge Guider IIs, compared to the majority of other 3D Printers that we stock, is defined as a “Professional-Grade” 3D Printer due to incredible precision and quality of 3D Components. And instead of relying on predesigned parts and existing components, each and every small piece has been very carefully designed to perfectly accommodate and complement all of the other parts in the machine – ensuring that the print quality is almost excessively good, every time!

So let’s take a closer look at some of the exciting features that you can look forward to when you upgrade from hobbyist to professional level 3D Printing with the Guider IIs:

  • Full Enclosure – Within the industry of 3D Printing, it’s often only the most expensive or advanced 3D Printers that offer a full enclosure, since most hobbyist-grade 3D Printers are simply designed for PLA and similar types of “Easy-Print” 3D Filaments. The Guider IIs, however, is different from standard printers, and features a full enclosure with optional lid, so that you can enjoy ABS, PLA, PCL, TPU, and even Nylon printing without any further investment. Additionally, a full enclosure also helps reduce heat loss, leading to more accurate temperatures and less influence from external forces like wind, air-conditioning or humidity.

  • Polar Cloud Enabled – In a similar fashion to OctoPrint, FlashForge has teamed up with a brand called Polar Cloud in order to allow users to connect their 3D Printers to an online portal, where they can upload files, slice and prepare them for printing, and then send the print-ready files directly to the Guider IIs. This is an amazing feature since OctoPrint typically required a lot of extra effort and time to set up properly, while Polar Cloud simply requires that you create an account and connect your printer by using your personal printer PIN code.

  • Online HD Camera – As a way to complement and enhance the cloud-printing functionality of the Guider IIs, FlashForge added an extra feature that doesn’t necessarily add to print quality, but it does certainly add to printing excitement, in the form of a built-in HD camera. This camera can be turned on and off from the printer or from your Polar Cloud portal, so that you can watch your prints develop from anywhere with an internet connection. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support direct IP connections, but it does support the popular Polar Cloud portal and the specially-designed Flash Cloud portal.

  • Diverse Connectivity – If there was any kind of “Poster Boy” for interconnectedness in 3D Printing, the FlashForge Guider IIs would be it. This beautiful 3D Printer offers so much more diversity compared to most models out there, with the option for USB Drive, USB Cable, WiFi or Ethernet connectivity to upload prints – even allowing you to design, upload, slice and start prints directly, or from anywhere with an internet connection!

  • Intelligent Assisted Auto Leveling – Over the past few years, a lot of Makers have taken a strong liking to automatic bed levelling, as it not only makes printing much easier, but also greatly improves efficiency and speed too. However, with the Guider IIs, FlashForge felt that simple automatic leveling was not enough, and they’ve introduced a new “Intelligent Assisted Auto Levelling” system, which is arguably the best levelling system to date. Requiring just a small amount of user-input before you undertake your first print, the Guider IIs then keeps these settings to deliver consistently accurate levelling each and every time, without any further input.

  • FlashPrint Slicing Software – While most 3D Printers rely on the tried and trusted (and certainly quite powerful) Cura slicing software, FlashForge have gone above and beyond by creating their very own slicing software called FlashPrint. This software is built to be as user friendly as possible for beginners, while still offering excellent advanced features that professionals will appreciate. It includes editable support structures, automatic support generation, online connectivity to connect directly to your 3D Printer, and even offers design-sharing and collaboration as well as helpful tutorials, guides and more!

  • Encircled Hotend Cooling – By utilising a clever encircled air cooling system for the hotend assembly, the Guider IIs is capable of controlling the temperature of the nozzle with far greater precision. This ensures less leakages and clogs since less heat is escaping and being lost from the system, which consequently also leads to reduced power usage and better overall efficiency.

  • Air Filtration System – As mentioned above, the air filtration system with the Guider IIs is made from two layers, with the first being an activated carbon layer to remove any forms of bacteria or reactive chemicals, and the second being a cotton filter to catch larger particles that may escape through the carbon filter. This results in odour-free, fume-free printing that is ideal for personal spaces like bedrooms as well as public spaces like classrooms.

So now that we’ve enjoyed delving into the more distinct features of the FlashForge Guider IIs 3D Printer, let’s take a closer look at the general specifications for the machine, to give us a better understanding of how these machines compare to the other models that we stock at DIYElectronics.

FlashForge consists of a team of dedicated and passionate engineers who saw that there was a major gap in the market for high-end 3D Printers – but without high-end price tags attached. And so their journey began, which has over the years resulted in some of the world’s best hobbyist and professional grade 3D Printers, with some of their most impressive models actually placing in the Top 10 for many different 3D Printing News and Reviews sites.

The wide range of 3D Printers that FlashForge offers includes the popular models like the Dreamer, Creator Pro, Guider Series and Adventurer Series, as well as their lesser-known models like the Hunter, the Inventor Series, and a few models that didn’t quite make it to production. This expansive selection is not only amazing because of the sheer choice of different features and functionality that it gives to end-users, but also because it has helped them improve their skills, refine their designs, and nail down their supply chains to ensure premium quality parts at excellent rates – a benefit that they pass down to customers who consequently also get to enjoy reduced pricing on top quality components.

With over 13 sought-after models under their name and continuous development each and every year, FlashForge is a brand that we trust to deliver product and service excellent – but without the high price tag that such excellence typically demands.
