At DIYElectronics we are passionate about 3D Printing, and what we love even more than great quality 3D Printers, is when brands like Creality 3D produce amazing machines that make the industry even more accessible and beginner-friendly. This is why we think Creality’s recent addition to their amazing line-up of 3D Printers, known humbly as the Creality Ender 3 V2, is one of the best that they’ve brought to the market so far. At a glance, it’s easy to see that there are a lot of cool new bells and whistles that even experienced 3D Makers would be intrigued in, although what we love most about this 3D Printer is that it’s been designed with the core focus on ease-of-use and convenience.

While it’s obvious that the Creality Ender 3 Pro and Creality CR-10S Pro were primarily targeted at ultimate print quality for an enticingly low price, the Creality Ender 3 V2 takes a slightly different approach. And while we certainly can’t take any credit away from the print quality that it does produce – because this baby prints beautifully straight of out the box – the features that this model offers are designed more in line with making 3D Printing an easier and more enjoyable experience. This is quite a feat, considering that their previous models haven’t necessarily been difficult to use, but with this machine, even your grandma could learn to start creating fantastic decorations or functional parts within a single weekend or two!

The Cool New Features of the Creality Ender 3 V2:

Of course, as per the Creality 3D style, this awesome user experience certainly doesn’t go without some great features that also boost quality, and there are a few major upgrades that veterans will definitely be keen to take advantage of, as well as a host of minor upgrades that simply help with operating the machine effectively. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the specific features that we like about the Ender 3 V2, as well as what kind of user experience you can expect with this beautiful machine.

  • Creality V4.2.2 32bit Motherboard – Although it may not be the most noticeable upgrade when looking at the Ender 3 V2, one of the key features that we are really excited about is their new custom Creality V4.2.2 Motherboard, as this has been specially designed to cater to everything an Ender 3 would need. It has been built to offer quite a beefy level of power, featuring an ARM Cortex-M3 STM32F103 CPU, and has been conveniently embedded with integrated TMC2208 Stepper DriversThis makes it not only a powerful controller board for operating a great machine, but also near-silent in operations, completely void of the classic stepper driver squeaks and squeals as the stepper motors twist and turn. Additionally, this board has also been enhanced with a MicroSD Card slot and a Micro USB Slot as well, compared to the full-size SD slot and USB-B slot on previous models, and has been built to ensure easy BLTouch integration, with a dedicated BLTouch port to make even upgrading this machine as easy and convenient as possible.

  • Design Based on User Experience – While it sometimes seems that Creality 3D just charge on ahead without listening to feedback, the recent “V2 Editions” that they have been bringing out have shown that they have certainly heard the voices of Makers throughout the world, and have begun placing a high priority on feedback and the overall experience of each and every user. This is very apparent in this Ender 3 V2 as well as the CR-10 V2, which both offer easier to understand operations, simplified involvement from the user, and essentially more accessibility to Makers of all ages and expertise. These kinds of upgrades mean that beginners don’t have to spend the many hours of learning, testing and tweaking to enjoy great prints nowadays, reducing the barrier of entry and allowing everyone to get involved in the beautiful culmination of creativity and science that is 3D Printing.

  • Many More Minor Improvements – When compared to some of the previous models, when taking a brief glance at the Ender 3 V2, it’s easy to see that there are a lot of changes and modifications all over the machine, from the sleek design with discretely hidden power supply, to the nice blue extruder knob for easy filament feeding and filament changes. This makes it a true delight for any 3D Makers who are looking for some fresh new features, as there is simply so much to explore on the Ender 3 V2. In addition to the discrete Mean Well PSU, convenient extruder knob and fancy new Modular HD Display Unit, some of the key (minor) features that we like include an upgrade to the PSU, now being supplied from the awesome Mean Well brand, a tiny tool drawer for keeping tools, spare nozzles and other handy items in, improved belt tensioners that are both easier to reach and nicer to use. And while these may be minor features, they all add to the overall user experience, making the machine easier and more convenient to use and understand, which in turn allows you to utilise more of the printing power that these modern 3D Printers are capable of.

Of course, as per usual, there are so many cool features about this new model that we simply can’t fit them all into one description. However, we feel that these few mentioned above are some key features that really differentiate the Creality Ender 3 V2 from other models, including the Ender 3 and Ender 3 Pro. Fortunately, we’ve listed all of the other important features down below, and if you’re still eager to learn more after that, be sure to check out the video at the bottom too.

Our Final Verdict on The Creality Ender 3 V2 3D Printer:

With so many exciting bells and whistles and fun features to explore, we must admit that our review on the Ender 3 V2 took quite a while longer than we expected. Fortunately though, we had a lot of fun experimenting with the various features, pushing the integrated stepper motors to their max and enjoying the cool new Modular Display Unit that really adds a beautiful finishing touch to a great design. And now, after experiencing all of the excitement that this 3D Printer has to offer, we’re more than happy to tell you that this model is a great choice for all 3D Makers, as well as anyone who is eager to get involved in 3D Printing for the first time.

With that in mind, we feel that the Creality Ender 3 V2 is the perfect model for anyone who wants to get into 3D Printing, but has always been a little scared of just how complex the older machines used to be. With this model, you can rest assured that, after building it up with the relatively simple instruction manual, you will be creating beautiful masterpieces within a matter of days or even hours. And remember, if you ever get stuck, there are mountain-loads of resources available online, communities that can help you troubleshoot quality issues, and many different guides and tutorials on YouTube just waiting for you to learn from.

And finally, of course, even you’re not a beginner, and even if you have one or two 3D Printers already, there’s no reason why you can’t also enjoy the fantastic features that the Ender 3 V2 offers. We’ve certainly taken quite a liking to it here in the office, and we feel like it’s a great addition to the few that we’ve set aside for personal use, as it offers great out-of-the-box print quality, potential for many cool upgrades, and an unbeatable interfacing experience that really sets it apart from all previous models.

Although Creality 3D have been working within the industry since 2014, their addition of the Creality CR-10 series is what really catapulted them to the front line of competition, as it offered substantially better quality compared to other 3D printers – while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexities of the machines.

The quality of Creality’s 3D Printers and accessories shows through in their market history, with the brand selling around 3000 printers in their first year on the market, followed by about 10,000 sales over the next year. Now, Creality easily sells around 30,000 or more 3D printers each year, with sales continuously rising as they bring out more models. These are impressive numbers when considering the fact that they entered the industry as unknown competitors, quickly rising through the ranks and now even competing with Wanhao and similar top brands.

If you are looking for excellent 3D Printers that offer affordability without compromising on quality, Creality 3D is certainly a brand that you should take note of. From the basic Creality Ender 2 all the way up to the large build volume Creality CR-10 S5, there are few other brands who are capable of offering such a refined package while still maintaining some of the most enticing prices in the industry.
