Please NoteThe Creality Ender 3 MAX has been equipped with a Z-Stop Limit Switch that is positioned too high to function properly. Fortunately, as 3D Makers, we are capable of fixing minor issues like this, and we have taken the time to 3D Print a Custom Bracket to remedy the problem - which we will be including in the box as a courtesy so that you can still enjoy your new machine to the MAX. While this is not ideal, it is a good fix that solves the problem without any further hassle or effort required. If you would like us to install this bracket on your Creality Ender 3 MAX before it leaves our warehouse, please make sure to leave a message in the notes section while ordering, or alternatively you can simply install the bracket with relative ease once you receive your awesome new 3D Printer. Furthermore, we have raised the issue with Creality themselves, and we are busy working on a more permanent solution for future models too. Thanks for your understanding, and we hope that you won't be deterred by this relatively minor problem, given the fact that the bracket completely solves it and ensures that these machines are still some of the best 3D Printers currently on the market.

As you probably know by now, we love the Creality brand for the way that they are so consistent in innovating, refining and moving the Hobbyist 3D Printing industry forward each and every year. And while they originally focused on taking simple designs and making them as affordable as possible for everyone to enjoy, they have more recently begun taking on very challenging projects like the 3DPrintMill and the unique CR-6 SE. However, while we certainly find these more advanced models to be alluring and often fascinating, we also love it when Creality take what they’ve learned from their many previous model and distil all of the winning ideas and designs to create a machine that is simple, cost-effective, and just damn good at what it does – and the Creality Ender 3 MAX is exactly that!

The Creality Ender 3 MAX, while not necessarily offering anything brand new, takes the best, most cost-effective parts, upgrades and refinements and puts them all into a single machine that offers impressive print quality, a generous build volume, and one of the most attractive price tags that we’ve seen so far. When looking at the machine objectively, it’s quite obvious that this iteration has really just taken the original Creality Ender 3 design and enhanced it by extending the bed rail, extending the Z-Extrusions and placing the gantry posts on the side of the 3D Printer, rather than sitting on the top of the aluminium frame. This relatively simple change, however, gives it length on both the X-Axis and the Y-Axis, while also adding to the height, bringing it up to not only match, but actually surpass the original CR-10 series with even more build volume.

Within the electronics box, the Creality Ender 3 MAX is quite similar to a Creality Ender 3 Pro with a relatively compact fit and good cabling and connectors used for all of the important parts, but includes a more recent Creality V4.2.2 Motherboard and integrated Trinamic stepper drivers. This of course means that it won’t be possible to change the drivers in the future, but with a set of Trinamic drivers equipped by default and the powerful 32bit board controlling them, there really aren’t many reasons you would need to. This is complemented with the classic Ender 3 Display that is humble but still a firm favourite among many 3D Printer enthusiasts, altogether helping round down the price and round up the value of this well-crafted, rather elegant machine.

Our Favourite Features on the Creality Ender 3 MAX:

While there’s not too much to talk about in in terms of fresh new features, since the Ender 3 MAX uses the tried, trusted and reliable designs from past models, there are certainly some things that we can’t help but love. These are probably going to be obvious, but we do feel they are worth mentioning, as these are really the features that make this model distinct, despite its many similarities with other models.

  • Massively Extended Build VolumesAs Makers, we always appreciate the ability to print BIG, even if we very rarely use the entire build volume of our machines. However, it’s no secret that the original Creality Ender 3 build volume was simply too small for any highly ambitious prints. This is why we’re so excited with the extensively upgraded build volume on this Ender 3 MAX, as it can now even compete with the full CR-10 range in terms of print sizes, but also with the Pro Series of Ender models with amazing upgrades that have been developed, refined and distilled to perfection over the past few years. This translates to even more capabilities and functionality on a build surface bigger than many competing models, giving the Ender 3 MAX a firm spot near the top when it comes to value for money in 3D Printing.

  • V4.2.2 Motherboard with Trinamic Drivers – While it’s often difficult to understand precisely how a more powerful motherboard can help in 3D Printing, it’s important to remember that 3D Printing, in its essence, is really just loads of calculations and variables being followed according to the instructions known as G-Code. With that at mind, it makes sense that a motherboard that can process at faster speeds and with more memory will undoubtedly be able to do it better, and this is manifested through fewer tiny mistakes, better processing speeds for complex calculations, and an overall smoother computing experience – and this typically translates to the best quality prints that the mechanical components are capable of. And of course, as if the powerful motherboard alone wasn’t enough, it has also been equipped with integrated Trinamic drivers, which are the next generation of stepper drivers after the classic A4988 and DRV8825 drivers, and this means smoother operations, quieter driving capabilities, and never needing to upgrade or fiddle with drivers ever again.

Our Final Verdict on Creality Ender 3 MAX 3D Printer:

Although there honestly isn’t too much to analyse or review on the Creality Ender 3 MAX, this is actually one of the key features, as it doesn’t offer too many bells and whistles, but instead just focuses on doing the basic just right. This has helped Creality cut down on costs, while delivering the 3D Print quality that people expect from modern machines, resulting in the absolute best value for money 3D Printer that has landed on our shelves since the Creality CR-10. So if you’re a Maker who doesn’t want to pay for features they may never use, or if you simply want to get a good basic model that you can enhance with customisations later down the line, this is the ideal model for you. However, conversely, if you’re looking for a top of the line machine that includes automatic levelling and many of the modern, and sometimes pricey, features to add convenience and ease of use, then you may be more attracted to the Pro Series in Creality’s range.

With all of the key features that really stood the test of time over many models and iterations, it must be said that one of the primary features of the Creality Ender 3 MAX is the fact that it offers a genuinely amazing level of value for money. Doing all of the most important things right and leaving the bells and whistles by the wayside, the Ender 3 MAX is the new defining benchmark for what a budget 3D Printer needs to aim for. Not only does it produce excellent print quality, but it also does this with a huge build volume that would typically demand a huge price. So, in a similar way to how the Creality CR-10 took the world by storm with a huge build volume at an unbeatable price, we believe the Ender 3 MAX is ready to take that spot and claim first prize for what should be considered the new ultimate budget 3D Printer.

Although Creality 3D have been working within the industry since 2014, their addition of the Creality CR-10 series is what really catapulted them to the front line of competition, as it offered substantially better quality compared to other 3D printers – while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexities of the machines.

The quality of Creality’s 3D Printers and accessories shows through in their market history, with the brand selling around 3000 printers in their first year on the market, followed by about 10,000 sales over the next year. Now, Creality easily sells around 30,000 or more 3D printers each year, with sales continuously rising as they bring out more models. These are impressive numbers when considering the fact that they entered the industry as unknown competitors, quickly rising through the ranks and now even competing with Wanhao and similar top brands.

If you are looking for excellent 3D Printers that offer affordability without compromising on quality, Creality 3D is certainly a brand that you should take note of. From the basic Creality Ender 2 all the way up to the large build volume Creality CR-10 S5, there are few other brands who are capable of offering such a refined package while still maintaining some of the most enticing prices in the industry.
