In quick succession after the release of their Ender 3 S1, Creality has set us starstruck once again with the newer and greater Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro 3D Printer. At DIYElectronics, we are ecstatic about growing the Maker Community with printers that are accessible to all new Makers despite your level of technical expertise. With these two closely related 3D Printers, Creality 3D has set a clear focus on creating the ultimate Maker experience right out of the box. While the standard Ender 3 S1 is ideal for any beginner looking for a nearly plug-n-play convenient machine, the Ender 3 S1 Pro offers many of the same features, plus a higher printing temperature and PEI print surface which sets you up for printing more fascinating advanced 3D Filaments without upgrading your 3D Printer further.
The Ender 3 Series has always been a reliable range of 3D Printers, with high-quality machines that are favourites for many casual hobbyists on a budget. The Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro however, takes the spot for the most pre-installed upgrades on an official Ender 3 design so far and, of course, reflects this with a premium price tag which in fact saves in the long run by eliminating the need to buy more upgrades later. We can clearly see the inspiration drawn from Creality’s ground-breaking CR-6 SE in this new Ender 3 S1 Pro design with automatic bed leveling, a Sprite All-metal Direct Drive Extruder, and other classy features. Creality’s self-developed upgrades on the Ender 3 S1 and Ender 3 S1 Pro are most of the best upgrades we recommended in our DIYElectronics Ender 3 V2 Upgrade Video on YouTube, and there are more incredible features included in these machines than even we thought about!
What’s New on the Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro 3D Printer?
It’s impossible to discuss this awesome Ender 3 S1 Pro 3D Printer without first gushing over the common features from the original Ender 3 S1. These two printers present fantastic Creality-developed upgrades, namely the “Sprite” Direct Drive Extruder and the CR Touch Auto Bed-levelling Sensor. These along with dual z-axis motors and leadscrews, belt tensioners, and removeable magnetic print surfaces, the Ender 3 S1 Series are impressive sturdy machines built for user comfort and convenience. The Ender 3 S1 Pro goes even further, offering major functional upgrades and even minor differences that add to a Maker’s quality of life. The Ender 3 S1 Pro embraces a sleek look with a completely redesigned base, helpful handles on the print bed and tool draw, and the relocation of the power supply to the right side easily located behind the screen interface.
Amidst all this, we have chosen 4 significant new features that we believe changes the game and makes the Ender 3 S1 Pro a worthy 3D Printer for anyone’s Maker corner:
- Full-Metal “Sprite” Direct Drive Extruder and 300°C Hotend Assembly – Creality has upgraded their own “Sprite” Direct Drive Extruder to all-metal along with a new full-metal hotend assembly and a brass nozzle. Makers will enjoy the highly coveted benefits of easily loading filament, smooth extrusion, and reduced chance of clogging. Most importantly, however, you will now have the ability to print at 300°C. This means more options to create epic prints with standard or high-temperature 3D Filaments, such as PLA, ABS, PETG, PVA, Wood, TPU, and PA.
- Spring Steel PEI Magnetic Build Plate – The Ender’s standard glass bed is now replaced on the Ender 3 S1 Pro with a PEI powder-coated spring steel bed which peels off the platform and flexes to pop prints easily off the bed. This sturdier print surface is specialised for greater bed adhesion and often seen as a must-have for printing cranky filaments. Flexible build plates bring a new level of convenience to your 3D Printing experience, eliminating any need to shovel your 3D Prints off the bed as it often feels like when using a scraper.
- 4.3-inch Touchscreen LCD Display – A big part of the comfortable use of a 3D Printer is to do with the screen and user interface. The Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro has a new 4.3-inch Touchscreen LCD Display with a new easy-to-use Creality UI Firmware. We find touchscreens are always a pleasure to use with quick response using a simply tap of the finger instead of a clunky rotary knob.
- LED Lighting Above the Gantry – The Ender 3 S1 Pro comes equipped with a handy LED lighting strip fixed neatly to the top of the printer. LED lighting has become a popular upgrade feature among Makers as it provides ample light for you to check on your prints. Whether filming for a timelapse or simply enjoying the enhanced futuristic look, you can easily switch on your LED lighting which adds greater convenience and style to the Ender 3 S1 Pro.
The Ender 3 S1 Pro shines on your work desk as a faithful fully loaded companion ready to take the next challenge you throw at it. We can’t stop ourselves from also mentioning that the Ender 3 S1 Pro again gives us a 32-bit silent motherboard with ultra-silent drivers, a filament runout sensor, a convenient toolbox drawer, and mercifully a full-sized SD card slot alongside a Type-C USB connection port. These small thoughtful additions on top of the fantastic features discussed above are exactly why the Ender 3 S1 Pro is a gem to have that every Maker will find joy in using.

Our Verdict on the Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro 3D Printer:
With so many fun features drawing our eyes, the Creality Ender 3 S1 had the attention of the whole team at DIYElectronics. We couldn’t help drawing comparisons and dubbing this machine a delightful mashup of the Ender 3 V2 and the CR-6 SE 3D Printers. Now, with the introduction of the Ender 3 S1 Pro, we were ecstatic. This is a machine that confidently sets up any Maker to print both standard and advanced 3D Filaments without the need for further upgrades.
We truly feel the Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro has everything you need to hit the ground printing in what many often view as a very inaccessible hobby. While it is true you must be prepared to do some self-learning, the Ender 3 S1 Pro has a simple 6 step assembly process that gets you printing almost right out of the box. You will be creating beautiful masterpieces within a matter of days or even hours. And remember, if you ever get stuck, there are mountain-loads of resources available online, DIY Communities that can help you troubleshoot quality issues, and many different guides and tutorials on YouTube just waiting for you to learn from.
With its automatic bed levelling, easy loading of filament into the “Sprite” Direct Drive, and easy print removal with a flexible PEI build plate, the Ender 3 S1 Pro nearly eliminates many of the struggles beginner Makers experience when starting out. Even if you are not a beginner, these awesome features and an impressive 300°C printing temperature are certainly attractive, making the Ender 3 S1 Pro a place-and-print machine for even advanced filaments.
The Edge of Tech on YouTube posted a great video, where he reviews the new features and tests the Ender 3 S1 Pro:
Although Creality 3D have been working within the industry since 2014, their addition of the Creality CR-10 series is what really catapulted them to the front line of competition, as it offered substantially better quality compared to other 3D printers – while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexities of the machines.
The quality of Creality’s 3D Printers and accessories shows through in their market history, with the brand selling around 3000 printers in their first year on the market, followed by about 10,000 sales over the next year. Now, Creality easily sells around 30,000 or more 3D printers each year, with sales continuously rising as they bring out more models. These are impressive numbers when considering the fact that they entered the industry as unknown competitors, quickly rising through the ranks and now even competing with Wanhao and similar top brands.
If you are looking for excellent 3D Printers that offer affordability without compromising on quality, Creality 3D is certainly a brand that you should take note of. From the basic Creality Ender 2 all the way up to the large build volume Creality CR-10 S5, there are few other brands who are capable of offering such a refined package while still maintaining some of the most enticing prices in the industry.
