What a marvellous world we live in that we can a get tiny little computer for around the same price as a good meal, and then program it to do all kinds of different functions, from useful application-driven functionality to sheer silliness and fun. However, with so many different microcontrollers like Arduino Boards, Beaglebone, Raspberry Pi, Orange Pi, and even some of the newer (more pricey but so enticing) boards like the Jetson Nano, it’s not uncommon for a Maker to come across the problem of struggling to connect to a board to program it, due to the different protocols and communication methods that are employed in different hardware.
This AVRISP 10-6 Pin Adapter is a simple but valuable adapter board that helps remedy the problem of mismatching communications ports, and is rather ingenious despite its simple design. It takes in either the 6-Pi or 10-Pin interface from your board, module or Programmer, and converts those communications to the other similar but distinctly different protocol. This can save you a lot of time if you love to program boards via ISP, and is particularly useful for programmers like the USB AVRISP XPII Programmer, the USBASP AVR Programmer, as well as the impressive STK500 development environment board.
