Keeping time is quite an important skill for us humans to have, but even with watches, clocks, sunlight patterns and many more factors that help us identify time easily, we are still prone to losing track of it. Electronics, on the other hand, don’t always have the same kinds of senses, which is why these DS1302 Real Time Clock Modules are so damn valuable in electronics Prototyping and project building, as they give your Modules and other components a frame of reference to keep track of, which can then either be used for extremely precise high speed processing, or can be translated into human time like in the case of digital watches and general time-telling devices.

This RTC Module is somewhat basic, but offers a great level of functionality that includes leap-year compensation up to year 2100, optional 12/24 hour formats with AM/PM indicators, integrated battery trickle-charging capabilities, as well as a universal 32.768kHz timing crystal. These features, in conjunction with the fact that the module supports both 3-Wire and 4-Wire sync serial communication via SPI interface, make it ideal for adding to almost any project that needs real time clock capabilities.
