When building Electronics projects, there are often times in which smaller is better, as a small size allows projects to be discrete and easy to blend in without being noticed. This is why we immediately fell in love with this tiny Arduino Beetle Shield from DFRobot, which is designed for the smallest Arduino around – The Beetle – so as to break out the digital and analog pins and make it easier than ever before to connect up sensors, modules and other components to your small and discrete projects.

The Beetle Shield from DFRobot is only slightly larger than the Arduino Beetle, and takes the 6 primary pins (3 digital and 3 analog) on the Beetle and breaks them out into separated VCC, GND and Signal pins, while also connecting up the positive and negative power pins to seamlessly supply power to all of the connected modules. This allows you to use the classic 3-Pin cables like the DFRobot Analog Sensor Cables and the DFRobot Digital Sensor Cables, so you can connect up your favourite Gravity Series sensors and modules, as well as other 3-pin interfaces, with ease.

Please Note: Some versions of the Beetle Shield have the label for D9 and D11 switched. As such, if you see that this is the case, use the markings on the original Beetle Board as a reference, and simply ignore the labels of the pins on the shield. Additionally, if you know that you’re going to need the RX, TX, SCL and SDA pins on the back of the Beetle Board, you may need to solder wires on before stacking the board and shield together, so you can have easy access even once the board and shield are connected.
