The W5500 Ethernet with POE IoT Board is a useful mainboard compatible with Arduino shields and sensors. Based on the ATmega32u4 and W5500 Ethernet chips, this IoT board can provide your projects with internet capabilities for all kinds of IoT applications. Building smart home devices is always a fun DIY project to tackle, and a good Ethernet connection can link your devices together into a greater system.
When compared to the previous W5200 shield, this W5500 Ethernet Board for Arduino boosts its performance with a power over Ethernet power supply and WOL mode. The onboard circuits provide POE voltage stabilisation, SD card support, and Leonardo unit control. The compact layout and 4-layer wiring are your solution for a space-conscious design that’s not bogged down by stacking shields on top of your Arduino board. The system’s reliable power switching, and intelligent PD power chip allow for more function.
The W5500 chip itself is the Ethernet controller that provides easy internet connectivity to embedded systems such as the TCP/IP stack, 10/100 Ethernet MAC, and PHY. The WIZnet’s hardwired TCP/IP supports many protocols for you to take advantage of. An SPI allows you to easily integrate with an external MCU. Reducing power consumption, the W5500 features the WOL and power-down modes while maintaining high-speed network communication.

As self-proclaimed “Robo-holics”, DFRobot is a company comprised of over 100 staff members, of which 30% are engineers who love to build robots. It was started in 2008 with the goal of embracing and promoting open-source hardware, with a core focus on Arduino, Raspberry Pi and their very own LattePanda development boards. Since then, DFRobot have manufactured over 1300 unique modules, sensors and components that all work together and complement each other, allowing users like us to enjoy a full spectrum of cutting edge robotics and electronics without having to pay premium prices.
With the primary goal of developing and manufacturing great quality products, while making them accessible to as many people as possible, DFRobot are rapidly becoming one of the most common-place brands in the world of open-source robotics and electronics. With more than 1300 products developed in-house, and an impressive range of different categories and specialisations, there are few brands in the world who can compete in terms of quality, accessibility and genuine innovation.
