Although many modern Makers don’t realise it, we’re quite fortunate to live in such times that a large majority of our Modules and other electronics all work on common voltages like 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 24V. This is fantastic compared to the past, in which each component seemed to have its own unique voltage requirements and onboard regulators weren’t quite as popular (or generously integrated into boards) as they are now. Fortunately though, nowadays we can rely on most of the Electronics goodies we purchase to be in line with these common voltages, and this makes it much easier to build circuits and match modules together for awesome projects. However, while this is certainly an awesome feature of modern electronics, we’re still not entirely out of the woods yet, and sometimes we do need to adapt, boost, step-down or otherwise modify our power inputs to accommodate our projects as best we can.

This DC-DC Buck Module is a fantastic power adapting module that is designed to help you tune your power with perfection, offering a 3.3V Fixed Output and a relatively beefy 2.4A max current capability, so that you can use almost any power supply ranging between 5.5V and 28V DC to power your lightweight 3.3V projects and components with relative ease. Additionally, instead of being used as a primary power source for your projects, this module can also be used to provide separate power for specific modules, sensors or other components within a larger project, allowing you to use 5V, 12V or any other voltage for the main part of your circuit, while powering the more lightweight parts of your project with this module. However, you like to use these Voltage Regulator Modules though, they are here to make your life as an electronics Maker easier, and with a surprising level of versatility for such a relatively simple item, it’s ready to offer that versatility to you and your projects.

Please Note: When no load is connected to the output of this module, it does not regulate the power. As such, it’s a good idea to power this unit last, once the load is connected and ready to go, so that you don’t risk a potential spike of up to 5V when connecting the load.
