Please Note: eSun has recently changed their filament spool material. You may receive a cardboard spool, instead of the plastic spools depicted above. This move means a more environmentally friendly design to their 3D filament spools which comfortably sit on your 3D printer's standard spool holder for smooth filament feeding.

There is great satisfaction in moving flexible parts around on your prints and while eSun eFlex-95A is made for functional engineering applications, this roll is rainbow coloured for fun colourful designs. A range of unique types of 3D Printing Filament is on the market with strange and exciting properties and characteristics, although none are quite as fun as our 1kg spools of eSun 1.75mm Rainbow eFlex TPU. This filament, although designed with flexibility in mind, features a hardness rating of 95 Shore A, which is a lot harder than typical “Flexible” filaments. However, this level of hardness means that, instead of being flexible like the sole of a flip-flop, the flexibility is more focused on adding impact resistance and enhanced durability that PLA Filaments simply can’t achieve.

This TPU is coloured Rainbow and is often regarded as a “Semi-Flexible” filament. eSun has an array of wonderfully rainbow filaments. This roll generally includes reds, blues, purples, and greens However, despite this uniqueness, eSun eTPU prints at similar specifications to standard PLA Filament. Just remember that with flexible filaments you need to apply slightly higher heat than usual while running the print at a lower speed than most other 3D Filaments. This will prevent the filament from pulling off the lower layers while printing, resulting in great prints that are both durable and flexible.

While you may certainly be able to print and polish this filament to a fine aesthetic finish, it won’t be able to reach the same level of beauty when compared to other filaments like the eSun eSilk Filaments. Typical TPE is designed with high elongation and low hardness for high flexibility, but semi-flex eTPU-95A Filament is designed for engineering applications rather than aesthetics, with this particular shore hardness commonly being used for roller skates and skateboard wheels. However, this eSun Rainbow eTPU-95A spreads colour throughout your functional prints and can make for interesting cosplay or paintball gear as well.

Additional Note: The colours that appear on rainbow filaments are pseudo randomised, and as such we can’t guarantee the exact colours or the order of colours that will appear on your spool. However, after opening and “testing” many of these spools (we’ve got a fond spot for rainbow filaments) we’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one and the unique colour combinations they’ve each provided.

Typical Applications for eSun Rainbow eTPU-95A Filament:

With the unique properties of eTPU-95A, this filament is often used for very unique applications, but rather than making stretchable, bendable toys or flexible prints, this “Flexible” filament is instead designed for high impact resistance and low levels of deformation upon exposure to mechanical stresses.

With that in mind, projects that utilise this filament include:

  • Printing impact deflector plates and durable gear for mini robot battles.
  • Designing unique phone cases that offer protection while maintaining a softer tactile feel with more grip.

Whether you want to print toys, fashion accessories or any other objects that can benefit from the impact resistance that this flexible filament offers, there are few other filaments that can achieve such a high-quality print with all of these fantastic characteristics.

Shenzhen eSUN Industrial Co., Ltd was established in 2002 in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and has rapidly become one of the leading international suppliers of 3D Printing Filament. They specialise in research, development and production of degradable polymer materials, and have grown their catalogue of filaments to include PLA, ABS, PC, PVA, and a wide range of other polymers and copolymers.

Their list of exclusive filament formulas include unique materials like wood, aluminium, bronze and other materials to create highly specialised filaments that can stretch, bend, be moulded or otherwise behave in very unique ways. Their filaments are also commonly characterised by their absolutely round shape, extremely low diameter tolerance, uniform colours and impressively stable melting points. These characteristics, in combination with their long-term insistent policy of “Best Quality, Reasonable Price” has garnered them a large share of the market, with their reputation commonly preceding them within knowledgeable online and offline 3D Printing communities.

eSUN’s popularity in the industry has also helped to produce sustainable partnerships with many internationally famous 3D Printer manufacturers and distributors, with DIYElectronics having sole distributorship rights to provide their 3D Printing Filaments to South Africa and neighbouring African countries.
