PLA filaments are so popular in the Maker world that many never print with any other type. The range of PLA colours and interesting easy-to-print adaptations scratch almost every making itch for everyday printing. But few brands have really unlocked the full potential of this common plastic material. Like eSun’s PLA+ filament or their own SunLu PLA+ filaments, SunLu has taken a shot at refining their PLA filament even more to a mind-blowing level of quality perfection. The new SunLu PLA Meta 3D Filament is stronger, prints smoother, and presents beautiful macaron colours.
PLA was always a great choice for aesthetic and decorative prints, but SunLu’s PLA Meta is good enough to be used for functional prints too! We’ve fallen in love with SunLu PLA Meta Filament, based on classic PLA but refined for strength and smooth printing. PLA Meta filament is 1.5 times more fluid than regular PLA and highly suitable for high-speed 3D printing. In terms of impact resistance and toughness, it outperforms normal PLA and PLA+. If a 3D printed model made with PLA Meta is dropped on the ground, it will not shatter. This filament is a game changer for all hobbyists in the 3D printing scene. SunLu PLA Meta is made from biodegradable PLA for safely 3D printing with no odour. Its strength measures at up to 12kgf and a whopping 17% elongation at break, meaning that it lasts longer than nearly all other PLA brands in the market. Printing with SunLu PLA Meta is also as easy as and smoother than regular PLA. Its purity allows an easier flow through your nozzle, resulting in low shrinkage, better layer adhesion and smooth surface finishes.
The macaron colours of the SunLu PLA Meta range is very unique, striking a balance between the smoothness of matte and the shine of silk. SunLu has based every PLA Meta colour on a solid 10% to 30% grayscale. It’s an entirely new colour system of low saturation colours! Each colour is bold and vibrant, from sleek black to striking greens. We’ve enjoyed each and every variant of SunLu PLA Meta 3D Filament that we have in stock. We’re quite certain that you’re going to fall in love with SunLu just like we did when first sinking our teeth into their range of materials and colours.

Although 3D printing at first glance can seem extremely complicated, with a crazy amount of different polymers and plastics available, PLA is polymerised in such a way that even a beginner can enjoy awesome results without ever needing any training or formal education on the topic. This is why it is arguably the most popular filament in the world, and as long as you aren’t requiring the printed models or parts to be very strong, it can handle a wide range of applications from decorative art to functional door handles and similar types of objects.
However, even though it is very easy to print with compared to other polymers, there are still some handy tips to help you get to a good level of quality from your PLA prints, and this is why we’ve taken the time to provide what we feel are the top three tips for 3D printing with PLA:
Although we like to believe that we are masters of 3D printing, after spending a good many years enveloped in the industry, we have to admit that even we learn something new from time to time, and as such we always recommend getting out there and doing your own research to develop your own opinion and grow your knowledge from multiple sources!
As such, in addition to the above PLA printing tips, we’ve also gathered an awesome collection of what we feel are great resources to start with when getting into 3D Printing, so be sure to check these out if you’re looking for more insights and information on PLA printing, or if you’re just curious and eager to see more opinions on one of the many facets of this still-fresh industry:
