This tiny little ESP8266 WiFi UART Serial Module CH340G board is a cleverly designed adapter that essentially allows for Makers to connect to and communicate with the ESP8266 chip on the ESP-01 Board via USB. This is achieved with the CH340G chip onboard, with a yellow connector that the ESP-01 can simply plug into – compared to using DuPont wires for other ESP-XX models.
This is a great help when trying to program Internet of Things projects, as it allows you to connect with the ESP8266 chip and send AT commands directly to it, while also allowing users to flash and update the firmware.
Extra information can be found on the ESP 8266 Wiki Page, including details on how to clean flash and write new firmware – and a few tactics on how to integrate booting/rebooting capabilities.
If you are building a project that utilises the ESP8266 chip, this CH340G WiFi UART Serial Module is the ideal solution to easily and simply connect to and communicate with the chip. It is natively capable of connecting to the ESP-01 Board by simply plugging it in, but may require some extra effort with DuPont cables to connect it up to other ESP-XX Boards.
