3D printing with tougher mechanical 3D filaments like HIPS is a step up in your Maker journey that comes with new wide applications for your prints and could also be used as a dissolvable support material. Similar to functional filaments as ABS and ASA, this Fillamentum HIPS Filament is a strong, high impact resistant polymer with thermal resistance and electrical insulation. Fillamentum HIPS Filament is more than a dissolvable support material and is often used as a fantastic strong functional printing material on its own.

This 0.75kg of Metallic Grey Fillamentum HIPS Filament features premium level quality we are used to seeing from Fillamentum filaments. With a sleugh of mechanical properties to boost, Fillamentum HIPS Filament is often used by Makers on its own as a highly impact resistant material. But, most Makers know this curious filament as a dissolvable option to use as supports for otherwise impossible ABS or ASA prints. You will need a dual extruder and Lemonesol, which chemically breaks down HIPS filament and leaves no mark behind on your main print. But shockingly, many Makers choose to print with HIPS over even ABS filament.

Fillamentum HIPS Filament has much to offer as a functional material with engineer-grade quality. Makers choose HIPS Filament over Fillamentum ABS Filament because of the reduced sagging, catering to common problems with overhangs. Additionally, it offers similar printing characteristics and temperature requirements as ABS, meaning that it’s easy to learn to print with if you are already experienced in ABS printing. Fillamentum’s HIPS Filament kicks up the ante with thermal resistance up to 95°C, a beautiful matte finish, and electrical insulating properties. Your electronical equipment is safe and sound in a HIPS printed casing. Like PETG, you can even print HIPS parts safe for food, but with a beautiful matte colour. This Metallic Grey Fillamentum HIPS Filament resembles the smooth clean surface of metal. Print models and parts that blend in with your metalwork and offers a sleek metallic grey aesthetic.

Of course, with a core focus on ensuring precision consistency in ever spool produced, Fillamentum has rightfully garnered a position as one of the top suppliers of 3D Filaments throughout the world. From their vibrant range of Fillamentum PLA to the more exotic styles like the Fillamentum Timberfill Range, this amazing brand is not only passionate about quality, but is actually capable of delivering on this promise each and every time, without fail. This is why, regardless of what Fillamentum Polymers you’re choosing for your next project, you can expect excellent results with each and every one.

If you’re looking for a great, functional polymer to use for all kinds of projects, from electronics enclosures to little toys for younger family members, Fillamentum HIPS Filament offers some of the best features around, enhanced with consistency that you can truly rely on.

Typical Applications for HIPS Filament:

HIPS Filament is most commonly purchased as an alternative to ABS filament, as it offers many of the unique properties of ABS but with a few extra benefits. Not only is it warp-resistant, but it can also be dissolved or finely polished with limonene solvent. This, in the hands of a veteran 3D Maker, is the ideal combination of features to produce amazing results.

Additionally, HIPS is an excellent choice for dual-extruder setups to build struts and supports for plastics that are prone to sagging on overhangs, which can then be easily removed without damaging the prints which they are supporting. The similar temperature requirements also mean that you don’t even need to change the settings if you are printing this alongside ABS, as they share very similar printing characteristics and requirements.

Fillamentum HIPS Filament – 1.75mm Metallic Grey

Starting in as early as 2013, but with roots that go even further than that, Fillamentum is a brand that actually began working in the automotive industry, before moving into the packaging industry, and then eventually arriving in (and specialising in) 3D printing, where they found their true passion. And as a company that has always placed a high priority on following innovation, they took to 3D printing like a fish to water, and since 2013, have been consistently introducing fresh new innovations to the industry in the form of new types of polymers, refinements to classic polymers, as well as hybrid polymers that blend in materials like wood for distinctively unique effects.

What we really love about Fillamentum and their awesome 3D filaments range, is that they offer true consistency even between hundreds or thousands of batches. In fact, they actually match many of their colours to specifically defined Pantones and RAL colours, which are universal colour standards that artists, designers and many other professionals commonly use for precision colour coordination. This of course is complemented by their consistent quality, with an impressive (and tested) 0.05mm tolerance throughout each spool, as well as consistent results from various colours across multiple batches during our own testing phases.

As a brand that clearly demonstrates its passion for 3D printing through it’s beautiful 3D filaments, we’ve been exceptionally impressed with Fillamentum, and we certainly won’t be too surprised if Fillamentum becomes your new favourite 3D filament for all occasions.
