Pack content

The Arduino CNC Shield V3 Kit is a pack of electronics designed to work together for computer numerical control machines. It contains a primary microcontroller, four A4988 stepper driver modules, a Shield that connects the drivers to the microcontroller, as well as a simple USB A Male to B Male cable to connect it all up to a computer. This allows you to build CNC machines like 3D Printers, wood millers or routers with up to four different axes, with the fourth axis often being used for extruder control or additional arms or other accessories on the machine.

The microcontroller included is an Arduino UNO R3 board, which is a good balance between affordability and functionality. This, in conjunction with the Shield and stepper drivers that have been designed with the same core focuses in mind, makes it an excellent kit in terms of both functionality and cost-effectiveness.

As a final note, the heatsinks included with the A4988 Stepper Drivers are vital if you want to push the drivers up to 2A, so be sure to replace these with our Stepper Driver Heatsinks if necessary to avoid burning them out.

Typical Applications for the Arduino CNC Shield V3 Kit:

The Arduino CNC Shield V3 Kit is the ideal package to start building a CNC machine, 3D printer, or almost any other type of project that uses up to four axis controls. However, we primarily stock these kits for 3D Printing, as it allows a user to control the X, Y and Z axis, as well as the extruder via the fourth axis control. It has also gone through numerous iterations to get to version 3, meaning that all of the bugs and minor problems that were apparent in the first few editions have been remedied, resulting in a CNC kit that is both affordable and very convenient for the end-user in terms of installation, integration, as well as ease-of-use.
