While many people love the fact that 3D Printing is bringing personal fabrication into the hearts and homes of hobbyists, what we love most is how there are always fun and unique ways to try to improve the quality of all of the different machines on the market. And a great example of this is the CR-10S Support Rod Kit, which attaches to the Z-Axis and the base of CR-10S Printers, to stabilise the large build volume machines and improve the overall quality of the prints they produce.

These Creality Upgrade Kits come in six major parts, including the two rods split into halves and the Z-axis corner brackets, complemented by a full range of screws, nuts, rod end mounts and other small parts, as well as a small tool kit with an Allen Key and screwdriver. And while at first we didn’t truly believe that it would add substantial value to an already-great machine, we were happily surprised with the fact that it made our own CR-10S 3D Printers even better than ever before – something we didn’t think was possible on a typical hobbyist’s budget.

The CR-10S Support Rod Kit is a simple but elegant solution to improve print quality by increasing stability and reducing wobbling or shaking during prints. This results in more consistent accuracy and higher print quality as the inertia of the moving parts don’t show through in prints, which of course translates to less wasted 3D Filament and more enjoyment from each and every experience with your Creality CR-10S.

 

Please Note: It’s important to be very careful when tapping the ends of the base extrusions, as breaking the tapping bit inside the extrusion can be disastrous. So be sure to check out some online video guides on how to install this kit before diving in head first.
