The Creality Laser Module Upgrade Kit is an awesome little addition that adds engraving and basic cutting capabilities to the Creality CR-10 Series of 3D Printers. It is simple to use, with magnetic mounting points and an easy-adjustable focus that allows you to stick it directly onto the side of the extruder block and set the focus with precision. Then, all you need to do is utilise the Laser Slicing Software that comes with it to slice a design and convert it into G-Code for engraving.

While this module is stocked primarily as an Engraving Laser, it does have the power to cut through thin materials, although it may require multiple passes over the same lines in order to slowly cut through layer by layer. And to ensure that your eyes aren’t unnecessarily damaged while engraving or cutting, the module also comes with a pair of Green Safety Glasses – which is particularly important while you’re setting the focus.

If you’ve always wanted to get yourself an engraving and cutting machine, or if you are just looking for exciting modifications to upgrade your 3D Printer with, the Creality Laser Module Upgrade Kit is a good quality yet inexpensive investment.

Please note: This laser engraving kit has been tested to work on the Creality CR-10 S range of printers with V2.1 motherboards, but may require some extra modifications to work with the Ender, CR-20 and CR-X series of 3D Printers.

Typical Applications for the Creality Laser Module Upgrade Kit:

Although the Creality Laser Module Upgrade Kit is stocked for engraving, it is in fact powerful enough to cut through thin materials as well. It is easy to install with magnetic mounting points and a single cable, and even comes with glasses and a special “Laser Slicing Software” for setting up the g-code for engraving. Just remember that you will need to use the included glasses, as a light source this powerful can easily damage retina.

Whether you are eager to engrave various materials like wood, or are interested in trying your hand at laser-cutting through thinner materials like plastics or cardboard, this laser module is more than powerful enough to utilise for your DIY projects.

Edit to original Review:

Apart from the software issue I have to say that this module does work on the Ender 3 Pro even though this is a 12v unit and the Pro is 24v.
You do not need to add a step down buck converter as the laser module has its own protection build in and the creality ender 3 pro board has a stepdown from 24v to 12v for the fans.
This module does add an enhanced feature to the printer and I have printed a bracket to keep it on the printer connected on a switch to turn off the laser when I do not do engravings.
For a relative low laser this does engrave some pretty cool pictures.

Laser software not in zip file

Recently bought this upgrade and to my surprise the the software zip file does not actually have any software in it.
It only has a config file when you run the creality installer in the zip and also it does not resemble the accompanied installation instruction file... have you guys tested this ?

Creality Laser Module - Upgrade Kit

Creality Laser Module - Upgrade Kit

Although Creality 3D have been working within the industry since 2014, their addition of the Creality CR-10 series is what really catapulted them to the front line of competition, as it offered substantially better quality compared to other 3D printers – while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexities of the machines.

The quality of Creality’s 3D Printers and accessories shows through in their market history, with the brand selling around 3000 printers in their first year on the market, followed by about 10,000 sales over the next year. Now, Creality easily sells around 30,000 or more 3D printers each year, with sales continuously rising as they bring out more models. These are impressive numbers when considering the fact that they entered the industry as unknown competitors, quickly rising through the ranks and now even competing with Wanhao and similar top brands.

If you are looking for excellent 3D Printers that offer affordability without compromising on quality, Creality 3D is certainly a brand that you should take note of. From the basic Creality Ender 2 all the way up to the large build volume Creality CR-10 S5, there are few other brands who are capable of offering such a refined package while still maintaining some of the most enticing prices in the industry.
