The constant stream of new 3D Printer Upgrades from BigTreeTech never fails to delight us at DIYElectronics. The BigTreeTech design team focuses on “Making 3D Printing Easier & More Fun” as their motto suggests, ensuring many of their upgrades are widely compatible for all Makers to enjoy. This awesome BTT TFT50 V3.0 Dual Mode Display is a prime example, featuring a 5-inch full-colour touchscreen to replace your 3D Printer’s control panel with a high-quality 480x272 TFT display and some really cool features.
This BTT TFT50 V3.0 Dual Mode Display is a larger and clearer version of the BTT TFT35 Dual Mode Display. Along with all the previous features, this TFT50 display allows you to adjust brightness and choose between 7 different encoder colours. The TFT display can operate in two different modes, not only accommodating a wider range of 3D Printer Motherboards, but also catering to the user experience. You can go for the old-school LCD12864 Encoder Mode of Marlin or the more modern Colour Touch Screen Style typical of BIQU Printers. This makes it compatible with both RAMPS style motherboards as well as Creality style Motherboards. Also, users have the freedom to switch between control methods within seconds, depending on which they’re more comfortable with, or which allows them to be more efficient in 3D Making.
To further expand on this dual-mode feature, the BTT TFT50 Display also offers both an SD Card slot as well as a USB-A Slot, giving users the convenience of uploading files with either method, while the dedicated WiFi slot can conveniently add a third way of interfacing with the machine when equipped with an ESP-01 module. Of course, these fancy features are complemented by a beautiful design and high-quality components, and if you’re looking for a great upgrade or replacement for your 3D Printer Display, then the BigTreeTech TFT50 V3.0 Dual Mode Display is one of the best options on the market.
Please Note: If you are considering getting this upgrade for your 3D Printer, but require a different size than this 5-inch display, we also stock both the 4.3-inch TFT43 V3.0 Display and the 7-inch TFT70 V3.0 Display complete with all the same awesome features.

As one of the rising stars in the world of 3D Printer Component Research and Development, BigTreeTech have certainly hit the ground running, entering the market in 2015 and spending their early stages primarily learning, researching, testing and developing, before producing some truly impressive results. From simple but effective upgrades to standard parts, all the way through to completely custom parts that no other brand offered at the time, BigTreeTech now have an incredibly diverse range, with almost no area of 3D Printing being left out.
Some of BigTreeTech’s most notable additions to the world of 3D Printing include the SKR Motherboard Range for numerous different 3D Printer models, the awesome TFT Touch Display Range with fancy features like dual-mode operation, as well as their very impressive Stepper Driver Range that cater to all tastes and preferences under the sun. And of course, to top it all off, BigTreeTech also have a sister company named BIQU, and we must admit that they have been producing some pretty impressive (and low price) 3D Printers, with the BIQU B1 possibly becoming a new rival to the Ender 3.
Of course, it’s easy to see that BigTreeTech are modern masters of 3D Printing R&D, and while we do still have a lot of different parts that we want to test out from them, so far we’ve been extremely happy with what they’re capable of producing – all while fitting into same kind of hobbyist budget that they used to operate on as Makers and Tinkerers themselves.
