L7805CV Linear Voltage Regulator - 5V Fixed Output
This positive polarity L7805CV Linear Voltage Regulator offers a 5V Fixed Output at up to 1.5A, complemented by a range of great protection features.
Working with DC electricity has always been quite a tricky thing in the past, but as the industry of Electronics grows, we are fortunate enough to be getting more and more ways to wrangle electrons, from stabilising them into uniform voltages, to boosting or dropping them to more manageable levels, allowing us to harness them in more reliable ways that we can trust, for an incredibly wide range of different electrical and mechanical projects.
This L7805CV Linear Voltage Regulator is one such tool that helps us reign in those electrons, and is designed to take a high incoming voltage and step it down a fixed 5V , so that we can harness it for electronics like Development Boards, sensors, and many other low-power devices that operate on 5V, which of course has been growing in popularity dramatically since it was incorporated into the USB Standard.
In terms of electrical capabilities, this positive polarity 5V linear regulator is capable of handling up to 1.5A in total, but of course may require a heatsink to operate at this current rating for extended periods of time, and also offers some great protection features like thermal overload protection, output transition SOA protection, as well as an integrated current limiter to protect itself and other Components within the circuit from unexpected current peaks or extreme draws from loads like heating elements.
