Nylon filament has gained widespread recognition as a versatile and reliable material in the world of 3D printing, offering numerous advantages. It combines strength and durability. While there is a learning curve since this is a highly advanced 3D filament, the incredible results you'll achieve are absolutely worth it. Now, Fillamentum Nylon AF80 Filament is a remarkable addition to Fillamentum's lineup. This filament consists of a blend of polyamide 12 reinforced with 8% aramid fibers, resulting in a self-lubricating material with exceptional tribological properties.
Parts manufactured with Nylon AF80 are ideal for applications that require continuous sliding and resistance to friction. Aramid is a robust synthetic fiber known for its resistance to impacts, abrasion, organic solvents, and heat. Thanks to its self-lubricating properties, movements with low friction are achieved, leading to faster and more precise actions and reduced wear. In industrial environments, this material can replace components made of less suitable materials from a tribological standpoint, increasing productivity in processes where Nylon AF80-printed parts are utilized. This extended durability also results in a longer lifespan for these components. That's why Nylon AF80 is an excellent choice for parts that undergo constant friction, particularly in industrial settings such as bearings, guides, and bushings. It can also be used for the production of electrical and electronic equipment, and it's free of restricted substances.
Fillamentum Nylon AF80 Aramid is a remarkable material filled with aramid fibers, tailor-made for FDM 3D printing technology. By reinforcing these fibers with the properties of AF80 nylon, Fillamentum Nylon AF80 Aramid filament exhibits remarkable characteristics:
In addition to these fantastic mechanical properties, this filament is also darn cool to print. Say goodbye to rough or uneven surfaces on your 3D prints. Nylon AF80 filament produces smooth and refined yellow finishes, adding a professional touch to your creations. And while you're printing Nylon AF80, you can enjoy a more pleasant and safer printing experience, as this filament releases minimal fumes during the printing process and is free from potentially harmful substances like BPA and styrene.
Please Note: It's important to be aware that the aramid fibers in Fillamentum Nylon AF80 is abrasive and can cause wear on brass nozzles. We recommend having a spare nozzle dedicated specifically for this filament. Alternatively, you can opt to equip your 3D printer with a more durable nozzle such as a hardened steel nozzle, a plated brass nozzle, or an A2 tool steel nozzle. For the ultimate in durability, Vanadium nozzles are also an excellent choice. These options will effortlessly handle Nylon AF80 filament while also offering slightly improved printing characteristics for other filaments.

Starting in as early as 2013, but with roots that go even further than that, Fillamentum is a brand that actually began working in the automotive industry, before moving into the packaging industry, and then eventually arriving in (and specialising in) 3D printing, where they found their true passion. And as a company that has always placed a high priority on following innovation, they took to 3D printing like a fish to water, and since 2013, have been consistently introducing fresh new innovations to the industry in the form of new types of polymers, refinements to classic polymers, as well as hybrid polymers that blend in materials like wood for distinctively unique effects.
What we really love about Fillamentum and their awesome 3D filaments range, is that they offer true consistency even between hundreds or thousands of batches. In fact, they actually match many of their colours to specifically defined Pantones and RAL colours, which are universal colour standards that artists, designers and many other professionals commonly use for precision colour coordination. This of course is complemented by their consistent quality, with an impressive (and tested) 0.05mm tolerance throughout each spool, as well as consistent results from various colours across multiple batches during our own testing phases.
As a brand that clearly demonstrates its passion for 3D printing through it’s beautiful 3D filaments, we’ve been exceptionally impressed with Fillamentum, and we certainly won’t be too surprised if Fillamentum becomes your new favourite 3D filament for all occasions.
