This has helped us to produce one of the best 3D Printer kits on the market, which comes with all the wiring and components included and set up to ensure that every customer can enjoy guaranteed satisfaction.
This is why we can say, with confidence, that we are the number one suppliers of 3D Printers in South Africa, with a wide selection of our own in-house Prusa-based 3D Printer Kits, ranging from basic through to premium. Not only do these printers come with everything you need to start your exciting venture into 3D Printing, but also includes all the support you need to ensure optimal printing results – and genuine satisfaction with each and every purchase.
In addition to providing what we believe to be one of the best kits on the market, we can also supply all of the spares and extras you need in a pinch, and have STL files for 3D Printed Spare Parts on-hand so you can make your own spare parts too.
The kit includes a full build guide to help you set it up, meaning all you need to do is put the right parts in the right place. We have also tended to the soldering and crimping of the wires and connectors, making it user-friendly for veterans and beginners alike – in fact, even kids could enjoy building this kit and having fun printing toys, models and other plastic objects with a bit of supervision.

Email support during the build is Completely FREE. However, printer kits brought back to our workshop for support will be charged per hour. We do not do telephonic support for the following reasons. Firstly, technical details are often not communicated properly by phone. Secondly, email gives us a written history so we can look back and see what has already been done.
In order to make our printers as accessible as possible, we have ensured that all the software you will need is completely free and available on the internet. As such, we recommend Marlin Firmware for the RAMPS 1.4 Board, and Repetier-Host for communicating with the printer via PC. Repetier-Host also comes with Slic3r built into the program, which is an easy-to-use software for preparing design files for printing. With these three readily-available softwares, you don’t have to worry about purchasing expensive design programs or slicing tools, and can instead simply get straight into 3D printing fun.
Nozzle Size – For beginners, we recommend the 0.5mm or the 0.4mm nozzles, as these are easier to print with, while being less prone to clogs or similar mishaps. Smaller nozzles like the 0.3mm and 0.2mm, however, are more accurate with more precise control, but can be more difficult to set up with more back pressure. Fortunately, this kit allows for nozzles ranging from 0.2mm up to 0.8mm to accommodate all users, and the All-Metal-Hotend allows for printing in Exotic Filaments like Nylon, Carbon Fiber or Wood-Fibre filaments.
Filament Diameter – Although you do get two different filament diameters to choose from, 3mm filament is the older, more outdated diameter that is now considered a legacy product. As such, we recommend 1.75mm Filament, which is not only easier to work with, but also more readily available in a wider range of colours, types and other variations.
Build Volume – Our Prusa i3 Premium Kit comes fully equipped with a 250x270mm XL Heatbed, which is much larger than our old models. It is made from aluminium for optimal heat conductivity, and allows you to print the large objects you've always wanted to.
Perfect Printer
What can i say! What is the first question:
How big can i print. Well to me the DIY kit had the largest build volume in its range.
So why settle for a small machine. We all enjoy large prints.
I have had my machine for 2 years now. Amd i don't look back one day. It runs like a mad person. At least 8 hours a day, 4 to 5 days a week. And i have only spent R500 on spares in 2 years.
Thanks DIY. I will definitely promote your machine!!
Mrs Melody Zwarts
Just want to shout out a big thank you to the staff at DIY electronics. I had never seen a 3D printer let alone use one. I decided I wanted to start a little business with 3D printing. Lets just say I think the guys at DIY electronics wanted to hide when they saw me come in. I was there twice a week for a 4 week period with blovked nozzles etc. I drove far to them to get help. They went beyond what I would call reasonable help. The patience and compassion they showed me when I cried from frustration. But they got me working on the Prusa I3 fairly quickly. I am now the proud owner of a machine I have fallen in love with, in fact I am looking at purchasing another one in about 3 months time depending if the orders keep rolling in as they have been doing. Thank you Damian, Phil, Kyle, Robert, Carl and I hope I have not missed anyone, you to Sylvie who was the one who listened to my tears.

AMAZING printer
This printer is amazing. I originally bought the non premium version of it 5 years ago and as they've upgraded it, I've bought all the upgrades to get it to what it is sold as today. This printer is a beast. Great bed size. Great speed. Great quality. Steady supply of spares and upgrades if needed from DIYEletronics, friendly staff and awesome service. You will not be disappointed
