As some of you fantastic Makers may remember, 3D Printing started in a relatively slow manner, with a new worthwhile model only making an appearance every few months. However, as the industry has grown, and manufacturers like Creality 3D have stepped up to the plate to deliver even better 3D Printer quality, features and reliability, the development of hobbyist 3D Printing has sped up dramatically, and we have now grown to become surprised when a month goes by without any new models or upgrades being announced.

With that said, the Creality Ender 5 PLUS is one of the newest additions to the Creality Ender Series of 3D Printers, and in a nutshell has been designed as a Creality Ender 5 – PLUS much more! This more, however, is not just focused on build volume – of which the Ender 5 Plus has a lot to spare – but also on great features and build quality too. With this in mind, not only does it offer 130mm of extra space in both the X-Axis and Y-Axis, but also a nice 100mm extra Z-Height compared to the original Creality Ender 5. This increased build volume, in addition to a neat, tidy and aesthetically awesome-looking electronics box with 4.3” HD touch display that warmly welcomes users to start Making, have given the new Ender 5 Plus a prime spot alongside some of the leading models like the Creality CR-10S Pro and even the Creality CR-10 MAX in some regards.

But How is the Creality Ender 5 PLUS Better than the Original?

Upon first glance, it’s easy to see that the Ender 5 Plus is a much larger machine than the original, and just the build volume of the Ender 5 is almost as large as the entire chassis of the original Ender 5.  However, we all know that size is not all that matters, so let’s take a look at some of the other fantastic features that have rapidly made the Ender 5 Plus one of our new favourite 3D Printers to use, stock, sell and even repair!

  • Extra Large 350x350mm Z-Bed – After enjoying such success with the widely popular original Ender 5, we’re glad to see that Creality are pursuing this relatively unique design further, with enhanced features that bring it more inline with the ever-famous CR-Series. And with a fantastically large 350x350mm bed, as well as an impressive 400mm height, the new Creality Ender 5 Plus is set to not just compete, but rather rival the impressive characteristics of the CR-Series. What we love most about this is that users now have a choice between which design is best for them, but without having to sacrifice build size or other important traits. Now, however, instead of having to choose a CR-Series printer just for the build size, or perhaps an Ender 5 just for the easily-enclosable box design, Makers can choose the same basic features on multiple different designs, allowing each of us to get the ideal 3D Printers that perfectly cater to our unique needs and nuances.
  • Extreme Z-Axis Stability – While it’s certainly no secret that Creality make mistakes as they continue to innovate and push the hobbyist 3D Printing industry forward, it’s incredible how good they are at using these mistakes to make future 3D Printers even better. Such is the case with the new Z-Axis support and stability on the Ender 5 Plus, which is comprised of not just two simultaneously driven leadscrews, but also four guiderails on the corners. This design ensures perfect stability at all heights, completely removes the problem of the drooping bed from previous models, and helps to maintain that perfect bed level from the BLTouch throughout numerous prints.
  • Updated Motherboard & BLTouch Sensor – As some of you hardcore Creality fans will know, the Ender Series 3D Printers in the past would typically always come with a simpler V1.X version of their motherboards, while the CR-Series would be equipped with the more complex V2.X motherboard, so as to offer more capabilities to the higher end range. However, with the Ender 5 Plus, Creality have chosen to equip this machine with the more complex V2.2 Motherboard, and this is more exciting than it sounds, as it means the Ender 5 Plus will be able to handle far more advanced levels of functionality. As such, if you’re the ambitious type who is always looking for improvements and upgrades, this new V2.2 motherboard is awesome, as it will allow for upgrades like dual-extruder setups, so that you can take your 3D Printing to the extreme, and really show the world what a good blend of creativity and engineering can do!

As you can clearly see, the new Ender 5 Plus brings all of the awesome features of the original Ender 5, PLUS so much more! So if you’ve been eager to see how Creality 3D have stepped up their game with the Ender 5 Plus, or if you’ve been waiting for a premium level 3D Printer that allows for easy enclosing with a unique box-design, we can’t think of any other printers that can offer the awesome features and novel build that the new Creality Ender 5 Plus can – and of course at an incredibly low price compared to professional-grade 3D Printers.

Our Verdict on the New Creality Ender 5 Plus - 3D Printer:

Although we certainly knew that the new Ender 5 Plus was going to be large, after actually seeing the real size of the build volume, we were honestly blown away. In fact, you could almost fit an entire original Ender 5 into the build volume of the Ender 5 Plus, as the chassis of the original Ender 5 is only is a mere 90mm longer and 30mm wider than the Ender 5 Plus build volume. This means that the Ender 5 Plus has a lot of room to play with, and you as a Maker can expect to not only produce great quality prints, but also very large prints, with the possibility of even 3D Printing full-scale busts and impressively eye-catching decorations.

This incredibly large build volume, coupled with a full range of awesome features, bring the Creality Ender 5 Plus into the top tier of hobbyist 3D Printers, while the same old benefits of the original Ender 5 still apply, allowing you to even enclose this unit or upgrade it in a variety of other ways depending on your needs as a 3D Maker – all while still fitting within a hobbyist’s budget.

Although Creality 3D have been working within the industry since 2014, their addition of the Creality CR-10 series is what really catapulted them to the front line of competition, as it offered substantially better quality compared to other 3D printers – while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexities of the machines.

The quality of Creality’s 3D Printers and accessories shows through in their market history, with the brand selling around 3000 printers in their first year on the market, followed by about 10,000 sales over the next year. Now, Creality easily sells around 30,000 or more 3D printers each year, with sales continuously rising as they bring out more models. These are impressive numbers when considering the fact that they entered the industry as unknown competitors, quickly rising through the ranks and now even competing with Wanhao and similar top brands.

If you are looking for excellent 3D Printers that offer affordability without compromising on quality, Creality 3D is certainly a brand that you should take note of. From the basic Creality Ender 2 all the way up to the large build volume Creality CR-10 S5, there are few other brands who are capable of offering such a refined package while still maintaining some of the most enticing prices in the industry.
