Creality’s Ender 3 line of 3D printers have gained a high reputation among the Maker community as the go-to entry-level range with fantastic prices and reliable functionality. The Ender 3 began it all as the very first beginner-friendly printer on a budget, and now the industry has grown even more. What was once premium features, have now been included in almost every new Creality model for ultimate user convenience. And who doesn’t want a bit of automation as a first-time 3D Maker? Many beginners get caught unawares by the difficult learning curve, but Creality has a mission to make 3D printing accessible to all, reducing the hassle and keeping your wallet intact. The Ender 3 V3 SE is the newest entry-point 3D printer that every hobbyist will absolutely love.

The Ender 3 V3 SE 3D Printer is the culmination of automated convenience into a budget printer that is perfect to take home and start your 3D printing journey. At the standard 220x220x250mm build volume, this printer takes the advanced Sprite direct drive extruder and auto-levelling of the Ender 3 S1 series and brings it together with the fantastic sturdy design of the CR-6 SE printer. It’s hotend assembly even includes a strain sensor, which means your Ender 3 V3 SE Printer will truly auto level itself with no input from you, even auto setting the Z-offset. At DIYElectronics, we are passionate about bringing great quality 3D printers to the South African market and growing the Maker Community. We firmly believe that the Ender 3 V3 SE is a perfect balance between convenience and print quality that beginners are looking for, plus a great addition to any 3D printer lineup.

Incredible Beginner-Friendly Features of the Ender 3 V3 SE 3D Printer:

  • CR Touch & Strain Sensor Automatic Bed-Levelling – The Ender 3 V3 SE printer’s most fascinating standout feature is a dual automatic bed-levelling system. The bed plate itself is fixed into place with no adjustable knobs because manual levelling is not in this design whatsoever. The CR Touch sensor automatically adjusts the height of your hotend and maps the entire print bed, ensuring every print is perfectly levelled. Usually to setup this system, you would need to set a “Z-offset”. But the Ender 3 V3 SE eliminates this confusing step altogether by including a strain sensor as seen on the CR-6 SE printer. Both sensors work together to automatically level and determine the Z-offset to the millimetre. Finally creating a truly hands-off printing experience!
  • “Sprite” Direct Drive Extruder – Newly developed by Creality themselves, the Sprite Direct Drive Extruder and hotend reaches up to 260°C. The interesting dual-gear design is perfect for printing PLA, ABS, PETG, and various flexible filaments like TPU. Feeding with up to 80N force, this extruder minimalizes the distance your filament must travel to the hotend. Loading new 3D filament becomes pain-free and the extruder’s extra control brings cleaner print results. The main standout difference between the Sprite and other Creality extruders is the heatsink, which integrates into the mounting plate, allowing the cooling fan to blow completely through the heatsink. Creality claims this change significantly reduces the chances of clogging, leaving you to enjoy 3D printing issue free.
  • Flexible Magnetic PC Spring Steel Sheet – The Ender’s standard glass bed is now replaced on the Ender 3 V3 SE with a PC-coated spring steel bed which peels off the platform and flexes to pop prints easily off the bed. This sturdier and tougher print surface performs wonderfully for good bed adhesion. Flexible build plates bring a new level of convenience to your 3D printing experience, eliminating any need to shovel your 3D prints off the bed as it often feels like using a scraper.
  • Dual Z-Axis Motors and Dual-leadscrews – Although the new Sprite Extruder is a lightweight design, Creality has gone a step further to include dual Z-axis screws and motors. This extra power and synchronized coordination means your x-axis gantry, where the hotend sits, is guided smoothly as it moves up or down. This stability largely eliminates problems like if the X gantry is off-balanced or wobbles, creating poor quality 3D prints. However, with two Z-axis motors on the Ender 3 V3 SE, the stability of the X-axis is ensured and makes for an overall reliable machine that can print even faster than its predecessor.
  • 250mm/s Printing Speed – Compared to the Ender 3 V2 before it, the Ender 3 V3 SE has an exciting boost in speed thanks to all its advanced features. Still an entry-level printer, you can’t expect to compete in any top printer races, but for a first printer it knows how to move. Clocking a large acceleration with the backbone of a sturdy design, this printer can spin out a Benchy in a little under 30min at 250mm/s, where it would take 1h 46min at normal 50mm/s speeds. This time saver is so great in a printer like this, letting you enjoy more prints at a decent quality.

Of course, as per usual, there are so many cool features about this new model that we simply can’t fit them all into one description. However, we feel that these few mentioned above are some key features that really differentiate the Creality Ender 3 V3 SE from other models, including the Ender 3 V2 and Ender 3 S1. Fortunately, we’ve listed all of the other important features down below, and if you’re still eager to learn more after that, be sure to check out the video at the bottom too.

Our Verdict on the Creality Ender 3 V3 SE 3D Printer:

So many new additions on the Ender 3 V3 SE make it skyrocket high above its predecessor, the Ender 3 V2 model. We were so astounded and excited to see that Creality is making the automated features we love into the standard for 3D Makers. The Ender line has always been a mark for entry-level 3D printers and now this new version just upped the standards you can expect when starting out on your 3D printing journey. We are glad to see Creality is focusing yet again on the budget 3D printer that offers the best experience possible.

The Ender 3 V3 SE 3D Printer has everything you need to hit the ground printing without much setup and a significantly easier operating system. A direct drive Sprite extruder lets you start experimenting with many 3D filament types right away, like PLA, PETG, and flexible TPU. The biggest mind-blowing feature is not one, but two automatic bed-levelling sensors, the CR-Touch and a strain sensor. Bed levelling is one of the biggest hurdles for a newbie Maker, but the Ender 3 V3 SE just eliminates that problem entirely. You won’t even need to set your “Z-offset”, an often-confusing setup step for new time Makers expecting to rely on the automatic sensor alone to determine your bed level. This dual auto-levelling system does it all for you, so you can just sit back and let the computer begin each print perfectly every time. Especially knowing the amount of filament and time is soaked up for long prints, it is a great comfort to know the Ender 3 V3 SE will get the job done more often than not and with smooth impressive results.

While it is true you must be prepared to do some self-learning, the Ender 3 V3 SE has a super simple setup process that gets you printing within 20 minutes. The printer is a breeze to assemble in comparison to the hours you’ll need to first assemble an Ender 3 V2 printer. Fit all the pieces together, run the automatic levelling program, and create your masterpieces within moments of taking the Ender 3 V3 SE out of the box. And remember, if you ever get stuck, there are mountain-loads of resources available online, DIY Communities that can help you troubleshoot quality issues, and many different guides and tutorials on YouTube just waiting for you to learn from.

Although Creality 3D have been working within the industry since 2014, their addition of the Creality CR-10 series is what really catapulted them to the front line of competition, as it offered substantially better quality compared to other 3D printers – while simultaneously reducing the cost and complexities of the machines.

The quality of Creality’s 3D Printers and accessories shows through in their market history, with the brand selling around 3000 printers in their first year on the market, followed by about 10,000 sales over the next year. Now, Creality easily sells around 30,000 or more 3D printers each year, with sales continuously rising as they bring out more models. These are impressive numbers when considering the fact that they entered the industry as unknown competitors, quickly rising through the ranks and now even competing with Wanhao and similar top brands.

If you are looking for excellent 3D Printers that offer affordability without compromising on quality, Creality 3D is certainly a brand that you should take note of. From the basic Creality Ender 2 all the way up to the large build volume Creality CR-10 S5, there are few other brands who are capable of offering such a refined package while still maintaining some of the most enticing prices in the industry.
