Temperature and humidity are always two factors you need to consider when working with delicate electronics or living plant life. Often the slightest change in environmental conditions can upset the balance of your herb garden or let brittleness creep into your 3D filament rolls. Resourceful Makers enjoy using sensor modules for projects like weather stations, automatic bakeries or liquid processing plants that utilise environmental monitoring to its fullest. A wide range of breakout boards, like this SHT40 Sensor Module, is available to Makers for keeping track of precise temperature and humidity levels and carefully controlling the environments in which your projects are located.

Ushering in a new generation of SHTx sensors, these SHT40 Temperature and Humidity Sensor Modules boast industry-proven quality from the Sensirion range. The biggest factor that stands this sensor module apart is the impressive increase in accuracy to ±1.8%RH humidity. The SHT40 Sensor Module keeps many of the best qualities of previous models making the ideal compact design for hobbyist makers. Requiring only 3.3V to 5V supply voltage, this SHT40 Sensor Module is easily powered by batteries or through your Arduino board itself. For such a tiny component, its sensors reach a remarkable range of -40°C to 125°C temperatures and up to 100%RH humidity. The I2C digital interface allows you to use the SHT40 as a breakout board with your Arduino UNO R3 or similar microcontroller for a multitude of applications. Creative Makers use the SHT40 Sensor Module for fun DIY projects with an extra boost in accuracy to monitor temperature and humidity in weather stations, warehouses and animal egg incubators.

Of course, we’re quite fortunate as Makers that we can get the exact Sensors, modules and components we need to cater to each of our unique projects. Having the choice between the SHT30 sensor range, the Gravity series sensors, as well as these high-quality SHT40 sensors is certainly very beneficial for Makers who like to personalise and customise projects to the max. With a reliable quality DFRobot design and a sleek black and white colour scheme, the SHT40 Sensor Module board even provides some great aesthetics along with awesome functionality.
