Arduino boards have truly revolutionised the world of Hobbyist Electronics since their initial introduction, bringing affordable microcontroller accessibility to almost everyone in the world. Unfortunately though, small mistakes can lead to damaged boards and loss of fun, which is why we always make sure to stock replacement Atmel ATmega328P - Through-Hole MCU chips, designed to either replace a broken or faulty chip on an Arduino, or to act as the brains behind your next cool project or home-made gadget.
Equipped with 32KB of ISP Flash memory, a 2048 byte SRAM, 1024 bytes of EEPROM memory, as well as a variety of other great features that would give computer scientists from just thirty years ago an excitement-induced heart attack, these tiny processing units are packed to the brim with functionality. In fact, just the Full ATmega328P Datasheet shows you precisely how much functionality is packed into these chips, with over 400 pages of rich content on benchmarking, testing and explanations on everything there is to know about them.
Fortunately, however, all you need to know is that it works, and it works well enough to maintain position as the stable MCU on Arduino UNO boards for many years now. And if you do want to get into the nitty gritty of it all, you can check out the full datasheet mentioned above, or the Summarised ATmega328P Datasheet for a more concise overview of the inner workings.
Please Note: This MCU does not come flashed, and you will need to use an Arduino board to flash it yourself. If you are concerned about this, simply Contact Us via our online support desk and we will tell you how to go about doing so.

The Atmel ATmega328P is a surprisingly diverse processing unit due to the modified Harvard architecture and general-purpose design. It is stocked primarily as a cheap replacement part for cloned and original Arduino Boards here in South Africa, but could also be used for your own custom microcontrollers as well – if you are quite sure you know what you’re doing of course.
It offers an impressive 20MIPS in 20MHz top-end processing speed, while consuming as little as 5.5V @ 0.2mA when running at full speed in active mode, and even has advanced Atmel library support for components like capacitive touch buttons in up to 64 sense channels. And these features all culminate into a powerful little package with a price tag lower than a typical meal at a nice restaurant!
