For Makers of all ages, Solar Power is always a fascinating topic, taking the light from the sun (or any other reasonably powered source) and converting it into usable energy and work via our many cool projects or devices. This is why it’s fantastic to see that we hobbyists are not being forgotten in the solar development that’s been happening around the world, and the range of Solar Power Managers and similar types of solar-oriented modules have been growing at a rapid pace. These Solar Power Manager for 3.7V LiPo Batteries are perfect examples of that, and prove that solar power is affordable for everyone, with a core focus on keeping costs low while providing functionality that almost any Maker can use. They are built to be used alongside basic 3.7V Lithium Batteries, and provide a reliable power source that doesn’t need a permanent connection to the grid – with the ability to be installed in almost any remote or hard to reach location.

These LiPo Solar Battery Charger Modules are very simple in their design, featuring a PWR IN port that you can connect up to a solar panel or power supply, a BAT port for connecting a classic LiPo battery directly to the module, and a VOUT port that provides output from the connected battery. This allows you to create remote projects that can be powered from the natural energy of the sun, while also maintaining a battery backup so that the project can remain powered throughout the evenings when the sun isn’t there. These features, along with a sleek and reliable design by DFRobot, makes it a great choice if you are eager to start tinkering with solar power or remote projects, and the basic but surprisingly diverse versatility of this module ensures that it can be a good choice even if you don’t plan on connecting it up to any solar panels. Of course, if you’re looking for solar managers that are designed for other batteries or applications, we invite you take a browse through our Solar Power Managers page to find the one that best suits you, and don’t forget to take a look through our Solar Panels as well to find a panel that can provide the 4.4V to 6V that this module needs, or to find a panel that suits your particular project or application.

Please Note: This LiPo Solar Charge Module features a charging current of 500mA by default, so be sure to double check that your battery can handle a charge current that high, especially if it’s a small battery with less than 1000mA capacity.
