As most of you knowledgeable Makers will already have realised, the world is rapidly becoming more industrial, productive, efficient and subsequently more awesome by the day, and while we can’t help but love the exciting progress that the human race is making, the by-product of this progress is of course more pollution. This is why we have recently started focusing on bringing in more Environmental Sensors and Air Quality Sensors to our catalogue, such as this extremely awesome Air Quality Multi-Sensor, which is capable of measuring PM2.5 (Particulate Matter), Formaldehyde, Temperature & Humidity simultaneously.

This sensor consists of three main components, with the first being a scattered laser shining past a channel of flowing air, the second being the integrated electrochemical sensor, and finally an on-chip sensor that specialises in temperature and humidity. The laser helps to identify extremely tiny particles in the air measuring between 0.3μm and 10μm by measuring the light received by a photosensitive diode on the other side of the channel, while the electrochemical sensor is focused purely on detecting and measuring the levels of formaldehyde in the air. This combination of three key Sensors make this multi-sensor almost entirely standalone, with the only extras that you need being the Power Supply or batter pack, and the microcontroller (we recommend and Arduino Board) to integrate this multi-sensor into whatever project you’re planning.
