While one or two relaxing drinks with friends seem harmless, South Africans know to be careful of the restrictions when driving. Police patrols often keep breathalysers, but nothing stops us from keeping our own to check our alcohol levels before climbing into the driver’s seat. This Gravity MQ3 Alcohol Gas Sensor measures alcohol concentrations in the air or on your breath. Designed with an easy gravity analog interface, the module supports Arduino micocontrollers, allowing you to create your own breathalyser or smart detector.
The Gravity MQ3 Alcohol Gas Sensor features a MQ3 probe with high sensitivity to detect Alcohol but low sensitivity for benzine detection. An onboard potentiometer can adjust the sensitivity of the module. Typically, Makers connect LED lights or a small display to read the alcohol levels detected. A microcontroller like Arduino Uno can also turn your project into a smart device with voice alerts and wireless connection that sends notifications to your phone. The low 5V power supply requirement allows you to experiment with various small device applications. These features, in conjunction with the long lifespan of materials used to build the MQ3 Alcohol Gas Sensor, make it an excellent investment for anyone who might be concerned with your intoxication levels after a night out or those of a driver of a company vehicle.
